Oh, this is sad... The ruins... SNOW... Ichigo going into Stubborn Despair Mode...

How the hell do you rebuild from that? It's a hard thing to answer with problems like these�hard to answer in your story, hard to answer in mine, hard to answer in the REAL WORLD�Jesus Christ. I can only think of Japan right now...

It can happen. There might be nothing left, but there is still the incredible human capacity to adapt and the passage of time. It's horrific to conceptualize what it means to start entirely over, but when it's necessary, it's necessary.

I'd like to see how you will continue to go about this. For now, though�good job. :D

First and formost; I applaud your precise details on their personalities. This is the best GrimmIchi fan fic I have ever read so far (Ch. 16--done), and I just am amazed how you captured every little emotion perfectly. Ichigo is my favorite character, and I often wanted to cry because I felt his pain. This is amazing, please keep going, for this... could pass for the real thing. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful yet dark story. I will continue to read it.

As an archive moderator, I would like to point out that we are having problems with the server and database (if you are on during peak hours you will notice the lag or have to refresh pages that time out-that is because the server is overloaded by the massive use of database space). So we are now suggesting that all authors that put big authors notes and answer reviews in their stories please start using the forum for that. In the fiction part all you would need to do is start a topic in the right area and you can answer reviews, interact with readers, start polls and everything else.

The forum is far better able to handle the traffic and load that the archive can't right now (we are working on that but it's taking time to do). Signing up for a forum account is quick and painless, no worse than signing up for your AFF account. All you need to is sign up, start the thread then post the url in your stories.

Please think about this and help us out a bit.

Swear to god, I have some sort of fic radar. Sometimes, when there's a story I'm reading, I just get a... feeling when it's updated, and I know exactly which site to check. (I have no fucking idea HOW, because I am keeping track of a good hundred something fictions.) I was in the middle of something, and then I was like, "'I Am The King' has been updated." And here it is.

Anyways...

The line that struck me most in this chapter was:

"He was not begging, it was a simple request, from one warrior to another, and strangely enough, Ulquiorra didn't fail to understand."

... Dude, you get it. You just GET it. Bushido, that is. You have depicted bushido without audiovisual aid. Congratulations. //pats back
(You now have brownie points with The Man.)

So, I am writing. (I actually wrote a 400 WC drabble last night on my iTouch, because I was too lazy to get my laptop.) And I'm also actually starting to illustrate scenes from it, Kubo-style. I HAVE NO TIME FOR ANYTHING I JUST MENTIONED, BUT HEY.

So. Wow. Coldness, this chapter. Ryuuken was iced, everyone's avoiding each other. WHEW�COOOLD.

Ironically, Hueco Mundo had the least coldness going on, what with Yammy's vengeful anger and Grimmjow's obsession.

I'm glad you mentioned Shinji�I wonder how in-the-loop he is.
(URK, I DUNNO WHAT TO DO WITH THAT CHARACTER. Ichigo'll meet Shinji and the Vizards sometime next year�"story time," that is. Probably when he's starting to feel better and starting to develop some kind of daily routine again.)

Yes! Moar of increasingly self aware/emotionally retarded GRIMMYYYYYY!! Okay, sorry.. Whew. Fangirl moment. I find the idea of hollows regaining their humanity in a disfunctional environment like Los Noches (thank you Aizen) to be the most intriguing part of Arrancar fanfiction and you've hit the nail on the head beautifully. The species duality present in Grimmjow, who for centuries (maybe?) was primarily feline in nature rediscovering all those warm fuzzy monkey bits of his higher brain function and the resulting confusion is epic! Maor maor maor!

You included Yammi!puppy which is absolute LOVE, Nnoi being an asshole, Ishida finding a backbone, and poor Kon trying to fake fitting into a family. ALL of those things are love. Your Ulqui in this is also very intriguing. He seems increasingly resentful of Ichigo as an agent of change that's destablizing a world that has hitherto only changed at Aizen's will. What a nasty shock to the system! In many ways Ulqui is more powerful but Grimmy is more resilient. I wonder when that situation will come to a head? I can only imagine it will be violent as that's all they know!

No matter what direction you take this story I will be happy to continue reading it. It's very interesting and involved and so much more than just noncon porno (not that I dislike my PWP by any means) but you're doing a beautiful job of representing characters and situations as being dynamic and complex. Rarely are things in life simple and that's reflected in your fic. Bravo, another great chapter and I look forward to the next one!

What I actually liked the most about this Chapter was the short scene with Kon trying to fill in for Ichigo. It was definitely interesting.

Very intriguing! I've been following this story avidly and I find myself increasingly draw into Aizen's machinations and where Grimm's rationalization and dawning awareness of his own impulses and desires will lead him. Ichigo seems increasingly off balance and vulnerable and that makes for a very interesting situation! I know you've established that Ichigo isn't gay but I cant help but hold out hope for some sort of consensual relationship between Ichigo and Grimm even if it's based on Stockholm syndrom (what can I say, I'm a shipper).

Very nice twist with Gin mirroring the same 'game' he played with Rukia in cannon. Brilliant update and I look forward to the next chapter. Happy New Year!

You don't NEED to give Ichigo a reprieve on my account if it wouldn't be realistic. (But, if it's realistic, BY ALL MEANS, DO IT.)

OI, Sadist!Gin Reprise! LOL-BUT-NOT-LOL. I dunno if I want to give him a fist-pound or just a fist... Exceptional (slightly awe-inspiring) cruelty.

(No, the Japanese is not translated. And it will not be translated. I would like my readers to go about reading my fic in a, uh... Neon-Genesis/Godfather Manner. It's not about UNDERSTANDING what's happening, or what it MEANS�it's about EXPERIENCING what's happening. In this particular instance, the content of what they're saying isn't... 15%+ necessary to convey the FEELING, so I didn't append translations.)

I am glad you like Prize of Victory. Some of the chapters get pretty dark depending on who is paired with who.

Yet another good chapter. I did like the little pun of Grimmjow getting Ichigo to dress up like Ulquiorra. Hidden desires there much Grimmjow? I also like the interaction between Ichigo and Ulquiorra. Things aught to be getting interesting.

Ichigo's psychological HP? BAM! 2%-8%.
Maslow's pyramid? Self-actualization? Gone. Esteem? Subzero. Love/Belonging? Nada. Sense of safety? Really nada. Physiological well-being? Not so hot.
Somaticized anxiety? Check. (Dude�his immune system must be a WRECK right now. He is wicked susceptible to catching a virus or something.)

In sum... his mind is frigging threadbare!

A month of this is reeeeeaally not looking good for him.

(And objectivity-schmobjectivity. Objectivity is only "consistent subjectivities," which is FALSE, because you have to cut corners and undermine the integrity of subjectivities to make them consistent.)

(I am under the weather, but I am, despite my better interests, extremely motivated to get a chapter out tonight/tomorrow morning.)

Woot, had a few catch up chapters to read. All very good my dear. And yeah, this kind of 'catch up explanation' chapters are a right royal pain, but necessary all the same. Keep up the good work and your spelling and grammar has improved by leaps and bounds, as has overall story flow.

LOL! I actually plan to pull a Godfather-esque stunt and write the dialogue in Japanese without translation (I can write Ichigo SO much better in Japanese, because I won't have to translate his verbal tics), and have the reader assume context from the narrative...

...And please, BEAT ME WITH A STICK. I AM SO BAD AT UPDATING. (I actually somewhat have time now! (After a horrifically busy month.))

What I find most moving in this chapter is Kon's portrayal. His guilt about not being Ichigo for everyone else... His guilt about taking "ownership" of a part of Ichigo after Ichigo had so much taken from him... His reaction makes so much sense, but it's something that I haven't seen much of in other stories like this (Ichigo in Hueco Mundo, Ichigo kidnapped or otherwise detained). Kudos to you for taking that extra step. On a secondary note, I find Ichigo's friends' protectiveness over his real body also very impacting...

(It's interesting how you capture the Urahara/Isshin exchange without it being live.)

Well. Keep up the good work, like always. :)

(You motivate me to take a whack at Kon in my fic. I completely forgot about him! FAIL! O.o)
