Chapter 1: The Night the Substitute Shinigami Disappeared
Ichigo and Rukia just returned back to his room swiftly and quietly after going of slaying just a few hollows. Rukia had returned to her gigai while Ichigo returned to his actual body. Both were exhausted and didn't say a word to each other and just crawled into bed. She quietly fell asleep in her bed inside of his closet, shutting the door carefully. The orange-haired teen quickly put on his pajamas and then flopped onto his bed, drifting off to sleep quickly. The bedroom window was open just a bit during this warm spring night. The air felt nice and cool on the substitute shinigami's skin. Even Rukia had the closet door open just a bit to catch the nice cool breeze come in. Everyone else in the Kurosaki house was fast asleep too.

Somewhere far off deep in the mountains and underground awaited a new and dangerous enemy. An enemy that has yet to be detected by the Gotei 13 of Seireitei. This enemy was an ex-shinigami, he had belonged to Aizen Sousuke's squad but disappeared one day after learning about his defeat. He knew how to get his exact revenge. He would permanently erase the substitute shinigami from existance. The ex-shinigami smirked in his dark hideout as he formulated a new plan. He would use his Zanpakutou to make this plan work.

"This time Kurosaki Ichigo, you will be defeated.." The ex-shinigami chuckled to himself, staring at his reflection on his Zanpakutou.

At Urahara's Shop the shop keeper himself was getting ready for bed. Tessai along with Jinta and Ururu had already went off to bed early. Urahara had just finish putting a few things away and just as he was about to head to his room, he paused sensing one familiar reiatsu and one not-so familiar reiatsu. The blond male headed to the front door opening it only to come to face to face with the former 3rd Captain of Gotei 13 and what appears to be a former Espada. A look of disbelief was displayed on Urahara's face but he remained calm and allowed them in.

"I thought you both were dead.." The shop keeper said quietly, taking a seat by the tea table.

"Ya underestimate me, Kisuke Urahara." Gin spoke with his trademark snake-like grin. He took a seat by the tea table as well.

"Oddly enough that damn brat Kurosaki Ichigo saved me.." The former Espada said with annoyance, crossing his arms over his chest. He decided to lean up against the wall, scowling as he did so.

"You sound a bit disappointed there..." Urahara paused and looked over to Gin.

"His name's Grimmjow Jeagerjaques" the former 3rd Captain answered.

"Shouldn't you be happy that you're the only Espada that survived out of all ten of them..?" asked the blond male, raising a brow at him.

"I thought it was pointless..." Grimmjow answered back bluntly.

"Yer so mean and so ungrateful there, Grimmjow." Gin said as he grinned up at the former Sexta Espada with that trademark grin.

"Anyways, may I ask why you two are here at my shop so late at night?" Urahara waited patiently for an explanation from the two.

Gin face back towards the shop keeper, his grin faltering for the moment. "We actually came to ask ya fer a favor if ya don' mind.."

"I'm listening." The blond male adjusted his hat a bit, his expression became serious as well.

"Grimmjow and I will agree ta help ya out with shop and kill off hollows that'll appear in Karakura Town and in exchange you give us a place to stay along with gigai's to wear. Deal?" The former 3rd Captain sat there quietly, waiting for Urahara to accept the deal.

Grimmjow snorted lightly as he looked off to the side. At first the former Sexta Espada was going to refuse that ridiculous offer. But he thought about it with a deep scowl. Where was he to go? He couldn't go back to Hueco Mundo, he was marked as traitor there despite his position. He was saved by Ichigo from Nnoitra. Ever since then he's been in hiding, just waiting for the winter war to be over. And even after Seireitei won the winter war, he kept himself hidden and off the radar. Grimmjow stood there quietly, waiting as well for Urahara to accept.

Urahara gave a small mischievous smile and extended his hand to Gin. "You two better not make me regret this."

Gin gladly accepted the shop keeper's hand and shook on it. "Ya have my word as well as Grimmjow's."

Urahara stood up from his spot and yawned lazily. "There are two spare rooms in the back of the store. Go and make yourselves a home there. Tomorrow I'll start working on your gigai's."

With that Grimmjow quietly headed to one of the spare rooms in the back. He needed as much rest as needed. Most of his injuries were gone but he needed to rest up and recharge for tomorrow. Gin too had most of his injuries healed up. The last Gin was seen was near death from a near fatal blow from Aizen. Indeed the former 3rd Captain was fast in his fights and battles but apparently not fast enough to take down the former 5th Captain. Gin sauntered off to the other spare room that was in back of the store and soon went to bed as well.

The ex-shinigami from the 5th Squad slipped quietly through Ichigo's bedroom window. He hid his reiatsu the best he could and approached the bed. The man stood there a moment watching the sleeping orange-haired teen sleep peacefully. He pulled out his Zanpakutou and pointed the tip of the blade on the scar that was on the substitute shinigami's chest. With the next quick movements the blade thrusted into Ichigo's chest while a hand quickly covered the boy's mouth and nose, cutting off his breathing.

The orange-haired teen's eyes shot open. One hand gripped at the hand covering his mouth, the other hand grasping the hand that held the Zanpakutou that had plunged into his chest. Though immense pain shot through the substitute shinigami's body, he struggled and tried his best to fight off the intruder. Soon the struggles became weak as Ichigo began to lose conscientiousness. His breathing was slowing down, his vision was blurring and his arms went limp by his side. The ex-shinigami smirked watching the substitute shinigami slowly slip into unconsciousness. The struggles had stopped, the boy's eyes finally shut and his breathing had stopped.

The Zanpakutou was jerk out of the orange-haired teen's chest abruptly and the ex-shinigami removed his other hand from the boy's mouth. He sheathed his Zanpakutou and then picked up the limp body in his arms before disappearing into the night. He used his shunpo quickly, heading back to his secret layer underground in the mountains. Phase one of his plan was complete. The ex-shinigami thought to himself, grinning that this was all way too easy. Next part of his plan was to alter the memories of those who knew Kurosaki Ichigo.
