A man ran through the forest, night clinging tightly. He was young, barely old enough to warrant manhood, but the expression on his face was grave enough to age him. Landscape, cloaked in dark, flew past him as he leapt from tree to tree, attempting to leave little to no trail for his pursuer to follow. Clutching a small, tightly wrapped bundle against his chest in one arm he spared a glance down, checking on the state of his cargo. Hearing footfalls behind him his head shot up and his free hand automatically went to reach for his zanpakutou. Grasping air he grimaced, reminded of the horrifying situation before him. He stopped suddenly, hiding his tall frame in the crook of an ancient sized tree. The bundle he held shifted sleepily, woken by cessation of the comforting bouncing movements. The man couldn’t help but smile sadly as two large, amber colored eyes blinked up at him.
“I can’t change your beginning, little one.” He whispered quietly. “But I promise you this isn’t how you’ll end. That, I can change.” Pressing a kiss to the baby’s forehead he held her tighter before edging out of his hiding spot. Seeing nothing and hearing nothing he leapt for the ground. He landed with ease and the baby squirmed with adorably startled eyes. “I know you don’t understand me right now, but your spirit does so listen up.” He whispered, setting the baby on the ground. The baby simply cooed, blinking. “I can’t be there for you anymore so you’re going to have to do just fine on your own, you got that, kid? Life is hard,” he choked then, his eyes, a perfect match of the child before him, watered. “But it’s also beautiful. You need to know that, you need to notice that. Notice the beauty of everyday. Smell the rain. Feel the wind. Live your life to its fullest potential. Fight for your dreams and the people you choose to love. Never give up.” Raising his hand then, he concentrated what little energy he had left and began carving symbols into the air. “Messengers of the traveled, fly softly for me. Carry my most precious cargo to where your wings see fit.” Light began to swirl around the youngling, shades of the lightest blue flickered until they began to solidify into a silky cerulean ribbons, wrapped in criss crossing pattern around the white blanket that held the child. Hell butterflies, compelled by the kido, danced their way over to the ribbons. “Leaving so soon?” A voice asked darkly. The young man tensed before rising to face his opponent. “I’m not going anywhere,” he chuckled grimly. “But her…” He gazed longingly at the bundle that was his daughter, now floating away, carried by the butterflies, towards the glowing senkaimon that was now beginning to open. “You can’t have her.”“It is the spawn of a Soul Reaper, destined to be held in the highest regard by the whole of Seireitei. It is my enemy.” The evil demon growled, lunging upwards.
“Muramasa!” The man called out, darting forward. “Don’t!” But he was too late. The dark haired figure, Muramasa, had reached a clawed hand out and snatched a hold of a ribbon’s end. Electrical current exploded outward but he held fast. “Let’s see you find your fullest potential now!” He cackled madly. The ribbon he held seemed to shudder before the color began to melt away, replaced with a blaring shade of crimson red. A hell butterfly flitted furiously and dove at the hand holding the ribbon. It connected with a solid spark of energy, breaking Muramasa’s hold, and dissolving into ash. “Muramasa! Your opponent is me!” The man dove forward, swordless and with nothing in his mind’s eye except the sight of his beautiful baby girl being carried through the senkaimon’s doors. He didn’t even feel it as Muramasa’s claws, extended to a combative length, pierced the fleshy portion of his torso, running all the way through and out his back. His eyes held skyward, watching the doors close with a rumbling crack. “Never give up, little Denka. Never…”“Hmm,” A pair of clog-clad feet came to stop at a sleeping bundle. “A baby, huh?” Urahara Kisuke scratched his head, glancing up at the retreating senkaimon.
“Who would send an unaccompanied infant through a gate?” A small black cat questioned, sniffing lightly at the snoozing babe who wasstill partially covered in hell butterflies. “Most likely to avoid whatever was on the other side.” Kisuke shrugged. “The real question is what do we do now that we have a hold of him?”“There’s a paper tucked in here.” The cat pointed out, nudging the crumpled parchment.
“Good eyes, Yoruichi.” Kisuke complimented distractedly as he bend to remove and unfold the paper. Yoruichi gave a small jump, taking up a spot on Kisuke’s shoulder so as to have a better look at the note. “So it’s a girl.” Yoruichi noted. “Hatake Suzume. Is that all it says?” “Looks like.” Kisuke shrugged. “It also looks like it’s going to rain.”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
