The streets were empty of people. Quiet of sound.
A bit too quiet for the tastes of the waiting Shinigami, but they knew the importance of it to happen the way that it was. Hitsugaya was waiting on a rooftop, Ikkaku and Grimmjow waiting in their own hiding spots for the appearing Bount.
From the information that they had been able to collect, each Bount was to come in one at a time before they hid away to wait for the rest of their team to arrive. It was mostly so that any power surges for Soul Society wasn’t noticeable.
A little power surge was generally ignored but not with the information that they had. Not with the knowledge that there were enemies that were supposed to be coming through those small power surges.
Shaking his head to clear his head, Hitsugaya scanned the area that they were watching, licking his dry lips as he felt the barely there spike, just like the letter had said would happen.
Shifting so that he was resting on the balls of his feet, he watched as a rip in the air opened and a man stepped out. Go Koga looked around and smirked to himself. An orange stripe of color ran down his hair, the rest of it dark, a not so odd look for someone in Seireitei. A pair of headphones sat around his neck and he wore a simple pair of pants and a tank top.
Leaning forward, Hitsugaya shifted and shunpoed down to stand before Koga the moment the portal closed.
“Go Koga, you are hereby under arrest for the planned and executed invasion of Seireitei and Soul Society. Give up quietly or you will be taken down,” Hitsugaya stated, his voice hard. Koga took a step back in surprise before he scowled heavily at him, rolling his shoulders as he snorted.
“I will not, child taicho. There is only you after all.” He ran his eyes over the small male. “Taicho or not,” he stated, feeling confident in his powers and in his Doll, Dalk.
“Then you shall be forced to surrender,” Hitsugaya stated, reaching up and pulling Hyorinmaru and holding him out before him. “I will give you one more chance to give up.” Koga simply tossed a marble out in front of him, the two watching as it grew into a creature made up of heavy metal parts that all connected in a vaguely female shape. “Very well then.”
“Dalk, get rid of him,” Koga instructed her. The Doll shifted on her feet before sending one of the balls that made up her body at Hitsugaya. As he watched with narrowed eyes, the balls split into several ball bearings, forcing him to jump out of the way as they slammed into the ground. He watched and waited for the moment he could attack in return as he continued to dodge the ball bearings.
“Not good enough, Koga,” he snarled, biting back the groan when one ball bearing managed to knick his thigh, leaving the skin and muscles bruised as the metal balls rejoined Dalk’s body.
“Good enough to hit ya,” Koga chuckled, rolling his shoulders again before he shrugged as Dalk sent another round of metal bullets at Hitsugaya. He frowned when Hitsugaya simply swept his zanpakuto in a diagonal motion, creating a frozen barrier that stopped the bullets, the ice cracking. “Fucker,” he muttered, feeling a small thread of worry snake its way through him as his eyes narrowed.
“You were expecting someone who wasn’t experience with their zanpakuto, weren’t you?” Hitsugaya asked, a smirk dancing on his lips.
“Personally, I wasn’t expecting a small fry to be so good, taicho or not. At least not until he decided to kick my ass all over the Eleventh Division’s training grounds,” Grimmjow snorted from behind Hitsugaya. He held Pantera over one shoulder as Ikkaku landed next to him, his unsealed Hozukimaru held across his own shoulders in a blatant display of boredom.
“The brat taicho is good at what he does, I can tell ya that. He can kick your ass once his figures out of your moves and powers,” Ikkaku drawled. He rocked back and forth on his feet, his bald head shining brightly as a shit eating grin overtook his face. “So, what are you gonna do about it, Koga? Especially since yur now stuck here without a single damn way to contact your people and the bitch. She’s all locked up and can’t help ya now, that’s for sure,” he said, cackling at the narrowing of Koga’s eyes as Dalk sent dozens of bullets at them. The attack forced them to dodge and smack at the ones that they weren’t able to dodge.
“That is one mean ass bitch,” Grimmjow snarled as he wiped off a trail of blood from his cheek from where one of the bullet’s had gotten a good hit in.
“Aww, did the pussy cat get hurt?” Ikkaku snickered as he landed nearby the snarling Grimmjow, getting hissed at.
“Ah, shut the fuck up,” Grimmjow snorted, the two of them jumping back when a sheet of ice formed in front of them, stopping the metal bullets coming after them with a slam.
“Pay attention to what is going on around here, you two,” Hitsugaya scolded before he shook his head and looked at the Doll that just chuckled, a metallic hiss, as she smirked. “We have much bigger problems then you two fighting over an insult or something like that,” he continued. Narrowing his eyes at Koga, he held Hyorinmaru up before him in a defensive position, hands curled around the hilt and held steady. “Your fight is with me, Koga Do not involve them unless you are able to take me down,” he stated.
Koga turned to him and glared at the small male before him. “I do not fight children.” The words were cool and even, making Hitsugaya snort.
“I am not a child. Despite the way I look. I have been a Taicho for over a decade now and been a shinigami even longer. Again, your fight is with me,” he told the Bount.
“Very well then.” With those words, Dalk once more attacked with the ball bearings, forcing Hitsugaya to use a mix of shunpo and kido to get away from them mostly unscathed. A few hit hard enough to force him to turn on his feet in a spin. His ribs screamed with the pain and twisting of his body, feeling cracked by the hit, but he pushed the pain to the side, ignoring it for the moment. He wasn’t going to go down just because he had been hit, ice forming around him again to go against the bearings.
“I see that I am not going to be able to do this while Hyorinmaru is still sealed. “Very well then,” Hitsugaya panted as he slid to a stop, eyes narrowed and zanpakuto held out before him. “Soten ni Zase,” he breathed. He shivered at feeling the way his power curled and tightened as Hyorinmaru lengthened, the crescent blade appearing along with the chair that attached to the end of his sword, grabbing the chain and swinging the extra blade in a slow circle. The air around him dropped and ice formed, dancing around him. “You see, the ice that I am able to form on command now is a part of my shika, just without any true shape. It’s a small part, just enough to create shields of ice to protect myself and others. Ever since the war started with Aizen, we have taken to practicing, planning, sharpening our skills. Unfortunately for you and yours, you walked into it.”
“I’m starting to see that,” Koga stated, his eyes narrowed as he took in the elongated blade, and the blade attached to the chain that was casually swung in a circle. “You know how to wield your weapon well, I can see this.”
“I am in tune with Hyorinmaru, balanced with him that takes trust in both myself and him. I have had the decades to discover that trust so that we may fight as one,” Hitsugaya stated, his eyes flaring coldly.
A storm started to brew above them as the Doll and Bount watched with wide eyes, feeling the way the power grew and roiled around them. Grimmjow and Ikkaku wisely moved out of Hitsugaya’s way, knowing that they really didn’t want to be anywhere near when things went down, bounding up onto a nearby roof.
“What are you doing?” Koga asked him warily. He shifted on his feet as Dalk moved away from the young taicho, worry obvious in the way she moved, her master’s worry vibrating along their bond.
“You will see,” Hitsugaya drawled, spinning the crescent blade faster before he tossed it, wrapping it, just barely, around Dalk’s arm, ice forming quickly over the connection and holding her tight. Jumping up into the air, the chain lengthening so that he had more room to work with, he wrapped it further around the arm that he had caught for a better hold and pointed Hyorinmaru at the Doll. “Now, you shall learn just why you do not mess with Soul Society, the Seireitei, and her protectors!” he called out, his voice strong.
At the very tip of his zanpakuto, a ball of blue ice started to form as the power in the air continued to rise, the storm above their head swirling the clouds together in a spiral.
Drawing the sword up so that it was held over one shoulder, he brought it down in a sharp diagonal line, a dragon forming from the ice in the air, seeming as if it was forming out of the very clouds. Dalk screamed in rage as the dragon slammed into her with a roar of power, the shock wave from the attack, sending Koga flying back hard into a wall, making him dizzy from the pain and blow to his head.
Dalk froze under the harsh attack, still screaming her anger as her body shuddered under the ice that started to crack and break her apart. With one last scream, the ice and her body shattered into bits before the metal of her body turned into a fine powder that was swept away in the breeze that danced around them as the storm cleared.
“Dalk, no,” Koga groaned, trying to push his body up as Hitsugaya once more sealed his zanpakuto and slid him back into his sheath. Grimmjow smirked as he landed on the ground next to the Bount, holding his own weapon to the man’s neck, tisking at him.
“You just had to fight. We tried ta give ya an out but now your Doll is gone,” he drawled. Hitsugaya and Ikkaku walked over to him.
“Go Koga, you are under arrest for the attempted invasion of Seireitei,” the taicho stated as several of the Second Division members appeared along with a few of the Fourth Division members that set into fixing the hurts that had happened during the fight. Or in Hitsugaya’s case, trying to. “I’m fine for the moment. I shall go to the Fourth with Koga and will see a healer for my own hurts once he has been secured,” he told the member who was trying to see to him.
“Yes, sir,” the male said, bowing before turning his attention to the others to make sure that they weren’t hurt too badly. Leaving the area, Hitsugaya and a small squad from the Second Division headed to the Fourth where they secured Koga so that he could not be a danger. Once that had been taken care of, the ice wielder headed for one of the rooms, finding Hanataro waiting along with Unohana and Jushiro.
“I take it that you are here to take my verbal report?” Hitsugaya asked with a slight smile as he sat on the examination table, zanpakuto and taicho’s hakama sitting on one of the chairs.
“Yes, if you don’t mind telling us what went on during your fight,” Jushiro asked as he sat on the other chair, paper and pen to take down the statement. Hitsugaya sighed and started to speak as Hanataro and Unohana went over his injuries, fully healing the ones that they could, while healing his ribs to a point that they were only bruised and no in any danger of breaking fully.
