{Mourning}
Nana yawned as she woke up next to Crona. Classes were about to start soon and Nana didn’t need to be late after just coming back. She woke up Crona and together they got ready and left. Crona told Nana about how everyone apart of Spartoi was receiving personalized training. As the two girls were talking Inazuma walked up to them. “Hey Nana…can we talk for a second?” asked Inazuma. Nana told Crona to go on without her. “What’s wrong Inazuma?” “I’m being reassigned…I can’t be your partner anymore,” said Inazuma. “I understand,” said Nana. “We both knew that one day we would have to part ways…I’ll be honest, I didn’t think I’d be so soon.” “Nana…I’m sorry,” said Inazuma. “Don’t be…take care of yourself alright!” said Nana forcing a laugh. Inazuma smiled at her gesture. “I’m more worried about you. After all I was the one who kept track of all your stuff.” “I’ll make do,” said Nana. “No you won’t,” laughed Inazuma as he embraced her. “I know but I’m happy for you,” said Nana as she hugged him back. “Don’t forget about me okay?” “I couldn’t even if I wanted too,” smiled Inazuma. “Besides no matter where you go just call me and I’ll be there.” Saying their final goodbyes Nana watched Inazuma go. They had been partners and friends for over ten years. Sighing to herself Nana went to meet up with the others. Everyone was meeting in the classroom so once Nana walked in she recognized four faces from her past. “Ox, Harvar Kim, Jackie it’s nice to see you guys,” said Nana. Ox was a male with short strangely styled black hair with pointed ends. He wore rounded goggles with orange tinted lens. He also wore the standard Spartoi uniform with a grey jacket bearing the Spartoi long on the chest. Harvar was also a male with short black hair in a ponytail. He had black eyes with orange shades. He wore the Spartoi uniform with the tie absent and the shirt open. He also wore a lime green bandana around his neck. Kim was a girl with short pink hair and turquoise eyes. She also wore the standard uniform for Spartoi. Jackie was a girl with long black hair in a ponytail with brown eyes. She wore the standard uniform for Spartoi. After Nana’s greeting Jackie ran up to Nana slapping her across the face hard. Both Ox and Harvar jumped as Kim sighed. “Still made Jackie?” asked Nana. “Yep,” said Jackie. “You do remember I apologized right?” said Nana as she rubbed her face. “I don’t care,” said Jackie. “What happened?” asked Ox in a whisper to Kim. “Just something from the past,” said Kim. After the awkward moment passed everyone waited until the rest of the members showed up. Once everyone was assembled Lord Shinigami appeared. However he didn’t look like the normal Lord Shinigami they all saw on a daily basses. He wore a lavender dress suit with a black tie and a sliver necklace bearing his mask insignia. He looked a lot like Kid with completed lines of Sanzu in his hair. Yet he had emerald green eyes like Nana. “Is everyone here?” asked Lord Shinigami in his true voice. Everyone nodded completely surprised by seeing and hearing the true Lord Shinigami. “D-Dad what’s going on?” asked Nana nervously. “Just a change of pace,” said Lord Shinigami. He waved his had as a katana with a white hilt and black flange appeared in his grip. “Starting today I will reveal to all of you the entire true.” “The true?” questioned Kid. “That’s right,” said Lord Shinigami. “The first truth is my name is Shin Death. The second true this world is my creation.” “What do you mean?!” asked Nana surprised. “This world was created as an experiment along with everyone that inhabits it,” explained Shin. “I wanted to create the ultimate being that best reflected my powers, the Shinigami. However I need a closed space where I could watch their progress which is this world you inhabit. The kishin was something that I didn’t foresee, but they turned out to be the perfect opponents for my test. So I allowed them to run around and see what happened, that was a bad idea. The kishin began to multiply and not to mention Asura had also turned as well. With the odds shifting I had to speed up my research and that’s when I created the Weapon. Meisters were no longer able to fight alone so I gave humans the ability to transform into weapons. With this I had hope to level the playing field. It worked for a while but then another thing I didn’t foresee happened, the witches. I suppose this goes back to the madness wavelength I created and placed inside humans.” “You created madness?!” asked Maka. “I did,” answered Shin. “Now I know what you are all thinking; if I was the one who created it why can’t I make it go away? This is yet another thing I didn’t foresee, the madness sustaining itself. The powers of madness go far beyond anything that I had originally thought but I assume that’s my fault for relying on hollow powers.” “So then what exactly is the relationship between a witch’s soul and a Death Scythe?” asked Nana. “Because I made Inazuma a Death Scythe without a witch’s soul.” “That’s not possible…” said Ox. “No, it can be done,” said Shin. “The truth is I tried to make all meisters like Crona with their weapon partner apart of them. I was unable to do this to humans without jeopardizing their sanity so I abandoned the attempt.” “So what did you do it to?” asked Nana. “Myself, come on out Shi,” said Shin. The katana Shin was holding transformed into his humanized from. It was a woman with long black hair and red eyes. She had a large bust and wore a black and white komodo with a large red ribbon on her waist. Around her eyes were sliver lines much like the one around Nana’s eyes. Shi gave a warm smile to the group but turned a frowned at Shin. “Finally I can see my children,” said Shi. “Right sorry about that?” said Shin as he rubbed his head. “Children?” asked Kid. “That’s right. Nana, Kid this is your mother Shi Death,” said Shin. “Oh you two have grown up so much,” said Shi as she embraced both her children. “So all this time…you were inside dad?” asked Kid confused. “Something like that,” said Shi. “Shi was the first of the Weapons and the Zanpoktou,” said Shin. “Zanpoktou?” asked Crona. “A familiar word to you isn’t it Crona?” asked Shi with a sorrowful face. “It pained me to see such a beautiful soul tortured like that. Though I’m glad you were able to find some friends…and then some~” Crona blushed along with Nana as she slid in that last part. “How do you know that word Crona?” asked Maka. “Medusa attempted to clone my research,” explained Shin. “She wasn’t able to figure out that the weapon is actually the same as the meister. Even I wasn’t able to figure it out until after I created Shi.” “So then what about our Weapon partners now?” asked Kid. “As my descendants only you and Nana actually have the option of multiple partners,” said Shin. “Even people like Stein have a destined partner even though they are able to use different weapons.” “So our partner is already picked for us…?” asked Soul. “Yes, but I noticed the soul resonance is stronger when meisters aren’t told of this fact,” said Shin. “If they believe that their own free will led them to their partner that bond becomes very strong.” “What about my mother?” asked Maka. “Even though she and papa were partners she left him.” “You should know better than anyone why she’s running from her fate,” said Shin. “Besides Spirit was not her destined partner.” “She’s not running,” said Nana. “Kami stopped running years ago. What she’s doing now is looking for answers.” “She was also an extraordinary student,” said Shin, “but she does have a habit of doing too much.” “What do you mean by that?” asked Crona. “She’s trying to find a way out an escape from fate,” said Shin. “I’m I right Nana? That’s why you left isn’t it? To find the very same thing right?” “Why did you transfer Inazuma?” asked Nana as her fist clenched. “He was my choice.” “I transferred Inazuma because his madness wavelength was to strong,” said Shin. “I’m sure he did a good job of hiding it but that’s the truth.” “I knew that,” said Nana, “in fact there have been several times when we used madness. What I want to know is why now.” “You knew and yet you didn’t say anything,” said Shin his anger rising. “You’re dodging the question!” yelled Nana. “And you are ignoring mine!” yelled Shin back. “You sent him away because he was mad!” continued Nana. “I sent him away because he was a danger!” argued Shin. “How is that fair!” said Nana, “all he ever did was watch over me!” “Don’t act as if you understand what’s going on,” said Shin. “Don’t act as if you know him,” said Nana. “You don’t know the dangers of madness Nana,” said Shin. “Can you even describe madness? Do you even know what it feels like” Nana’s soul formed around her body. “Madness…what does it mean to be mad?” Her soul began to expand and change from white to a crimson color. “Are you mad just because you don’t follow the rules?” her soul was covering the entire academy now and kept growing. “Are you mad because you chose a path that wasn’t set out for you? Or maybe it’s because people don’t understand you? Or maybe it’s something else, what do you think?” Nana’s new crimson soul was the exact size of Shin’s soul as it covered Death city. “You said yourself that you didn’t plan for madness to go this far so what makes you think it’s a bad thing. Fear, death, bravery, madness, love, hate, these are all things that determine our being! So why is it you who gets to decide on which one matters! You don’t even know what it feels like, to be afraid of yourself.” Crona tightly embraced Nana surprising her. “It’s okay,” said Crona. “He’d never leave you.” “No matter where you go just call me and I’ll be there.” Nana soul turned white and shrunk back to its old size at Crona’s words. She slowly lifted her hand into the air as Shi transformed back into a katana. Nana charged towards Shin jumping into the air her hand still raised. Shin grabbed Shi and held his ground in a defensive position. “INAZUMA!” cried Nana. As she descended towards Shin falling from the sky and into her hand was Inazuma in his weapon form. Nana slashed with her blade grinding against Shin’s blade as the sparks flew. The two laid in a deadlock as Nana pushed against the barely trying Shin. “Why are you here Inazuma?” asked Shin. “I’ve already gave you your assignment.” “Because I answered to a higher power sir,” said Inazuma. “Oh and what is that?” asked Shin. “I made here a promise sir,” said Inazuma, “no matter where you go just call me and I’ll be there. Isn’t that right Nana?” “Damn right,” said Nana. “Let’s show him Insanity!” “Let’s go, Soul Madness!”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
