She hated herself for dropping hints like that to the man, but it was already killing her from the inside and she had only been handed the information a few hours ago. She just needed to get it off her chest without destroying this whole operation... well she supposed as long as she kept the word of it away from the Twelfth Division members, then they should be okay. As long as Captain Mayuri never caught wind of it, or maybe even Officer Akon himself, then they might still be in the clear. Captain Unohana might understand, and she couldn't risk keeping a secret like this from the woman, but just the same, she didn't really want to get anyone in trouble. The women involved technically weren't supposed to be engaged in outside relationships during this kind of experiment... and sometimes the whole Division officer- Captain relationship could be frowned upon.
If she didn't want anyone to be interrogated over this, then it was best if she kept her mouth shut. Of course, she trusted Yumichika to do the same...
Still, the whole matter of it was crazy ridiculous.
How did he figure all of that out?
"Lieutenant Isane, do watch your step."
She jumped slightly at the sudden call and stopped dead in her tracks, looking up to where a set of filing cabinets were placed in her path just a few feet in front of her; had she not stopped, she would've ran head first into them... Frowning at her own lack of perception, she searched to see who had been her guiding eyes and took note of the white-haired Captain, who was walking alongside the Eighth Captain as well.
"You must be in some deep thoughts there." Shunsui remarked as the other two took pauses just the same.
She offered a nervous chuckle and moved to step out of the pathway of the cabinets as she continued on her way. "Sorry about that, I was just caught up on another matter... I guess I wasn't paying all that much attention to what was around me."
"If I didn't think it was rude, I'd ask what it was about." Ukitake remarked with a light chuckle. "Kyōraku and I were heading back to meet with Captain Unohana, were you heading the same way?"
"No, actually I was trying to find Nemu and see if she wanted to hang out with the other girls for the night." Isane answered, using one hand to ruffle through her silver locks. "I figured it wouldn't hurt to have some socializing time with one another again."
"Sounds like something we should drop in on." Shunsui hinted, digging part of his elbow into the other man's side. "We might learn some valuable information."
"Retsu would kill us if she found out." Ukitake reminded.
"But I want to know if Ise says anything about me."
Shaking her head, Isane offered another chuckle at the man's persistence. "Don't worry, at the right price, I'd be willing to make notes for you." she teased as she tried to keep on her original path. "If you'll excuse me now, I want to see if Kurotsuchi is in the same place I left her this morning."
"Knowing her, she probably is." the Thirteenth Captain remarked. "We still need to find Retsu though..."
"I assumed if we waited long enough, she would magically appear to us."
Leaving the still talking Captains behind her, she hurried along her path and tried not to get openly distracted once more. Luckily this place didn't have some kind of hidden staircase or else she would've tripped down it and broke her neck or something. That would've been embarrassing and stupid all in one... It was always a maze of corridors, always had to be with this Division. It was like the Twelfth Division was trying to hide something or get people lost... maybe experiment on the bodies that were never recovered.
Don't get too ahead of yourself there, Kotetsu.
Coming up to the woman's assigned bedroom, she paused slightly outside of the door to listen for anything incriminating before she moved to knock on the door frame. So far so good... she would've hoped that at this point the two would have calmed down with their antics, but she could just be completely wrong with that assumption too.
"Knock, knock, any body home?" she called lightly, pushing the door open with a large sense of caution and holding herself to where she could make a quick escape at the first inappropriate glance. So far so good... she pushed it open a little more to see if there was anything going on outside of her thin line of sight. "Nemu?"
It seemed to take a few short seconds before another set of fingers appeared on the edge of the door and pulled it out of her grasp; opening it to reveal the half unpacked room on the other side. At first, she felt a little startled for having been caught... before she realized that she had called out her presence first, so that should garner a little bit of warning beforehand. She watched as the counterpart to the woman she had been calling for appeared instead; the pink-haired man stood only a few short inches in front of her and seemed more so curious about her appearance than really anything else. Then again, she supposed he always had that kind of look to him. It was less curiosity and more observation though... suiting for a man like him.
"She'll be out in a moment." he answered. "Why do you wish for her presence?"
"Because... I wanted to see if she wanted to hang out with the other girls, I figured we could have a ladies night." Isane started, before catching herself on the answer. "Wait... why do I have to explain myself to you again?"
"Technically I was just asking a question and you chose to answer, there was really nothing to explain since the given words didn't make for confusion." Szayel remarked, moving to cross his arms over his chest. "If anything, you're the one choosing to explain yourself; I'm not making you do anything."
That sounded reasonable... then again, she supposed anything he said could be deemed as such. "Right, well I thought it wouldn't hurt to get all the girls together for one more night just to have fun with the evening."
"See, there you go explaining yourself again when I didn't say anything."
"Just shut up and let me see Nemu."
A faint chuckle pushed itself from his chest as he stepped back. "There was nothing to say that I was stopping you from doing that either."
She didn't know why they insisted on playing games with one another like this... if one was to call them games anyways. There was still this sense of uneasiness she felt around him, but it had certainly died down a lot since the first time they crossed paths. She didn't feel threatened much anymore and he didn't seem to be bothered by her either; if anything they were both in this mutual standing now, which she guessed was a good thing. They'd be spending a lot more time around one another since they were both trying to look after Kurotsuchi, so it was good that they were getting comfortable with one another now. It lessened the chances of them going at one another's throats later.
Plus if he trusted her enough to let her in on his secret... then he had to trust her instincts more than she trusted his.
"Isane, is there something I can help you with?"
That was the voice she was looking for.
She shifted her eyes away from the man in front of her and towards the darker-haired woman who was just now stepping out from a side room; fingers were finishing up the end of her braid as she neatly tied off the bottom of the twisted locks. Her new uniform was barely anything different but still noticeable to those who knew her best. The small bulge of her stomach was well hidden but every now and again with certain movements, a hint of it could be seen. "I wanted to ask if you were up for a little bit of socializing. The rest of the girls have settled in but they're feeling a little restless; it was Matsumoto's idea for a girls' night in or something. I figured it wouldn't hurt for you to get out and socialize for a bit, hell knows that we'll be up here for some time, might as well have something to relieve ourselves with. Something that doesn't involve a certain piece of anatomy on the male body anyways."
For a moment, it seemed like her remark caught the man off-guard before he offered her another, stronger chuckle at her word choice. "I didn't think you had a sense of humor, Kotetsu, at least not one as crude as that. Not to say that I haven't had my fair share of crude laughs every now and again... besides, I'm sure that man from before would be all the more willing to help 'relieve' you." it was his chance to catch the slight part of her lips in surprise. "I was actually about to step out for a bit anyways, I'm sure Lady Kurotsuchi will enjoy finding another act to 'relieve' herself with."
She watched as he moved to step around her before he let himself out into the corridor behind her, eventually making his way off to wherever it was he wanted to go. While she was always curious about where he was going to go... after this previous conversation, she wasn't all that eager to know after all. Moving her attention to the other woman once more, she offered a playful scoff. "You should consider putting him on a shorter leash, just saying."
"He tends to break out of any kind of bondages." Nemu remarked. "Mostly handcuffs but any kind of restrains typically don't last long."
"... You know this started out as a joke but now it's not really funny when I realize that you would answer it like that." Isane grimaced. "But, anyways back to the original matter here, do you want to hang out with the rest of us? I think it'd be good for everyone."
"I suppose there's nothing to do here that would be an appreciation to my time..." she started, fingers toying with the end of her braid. "As for my health, it would be more suitable to keep up with the social aspect of it instead of focusing solely on physical and mental prospects."
"I was aiming more for a yes or no response... not entirely sure what that was."
"Well if everyone's already congested in one area, then I suppose there's no harm in adding another member." the Twelfth Lieutenant eventually agreed with a short nod before her hands moved to smooth out her uniform. "Where are the others situated?"
"Oh, just down a few corridors from here." Isane answered as she stepped back out into the corridor and ushered for the woman to follow her. She was actually a little surprised the woman made her decision this easily, she thought it might've been a bit more of a hassle... then again, that could've just been because she expected to debate with the Espada as well.
Making her way back down the previous corridor, she tried to keep a brief outline of the building in mind and tried to remember which way she had came from... hopefully she wouldn't get the two of them lost somehow. And if not, then maybe the other Lieutenant would know how to get back on track.
Hopefully the rest of the girls would still be up for a little late evening fun without having to puke their stomachs up. Gods, for once she was glad to not be in the same boat as they were... she had her fill of having to deal with sick people on a normal basis, she didn't want to be one of them. Throwing up was just not something she enjoyed... If she remembered correctly, they needed to take this next turn and follow the corridor up until the end, where they'd have to make another turn, which should lead them back to the other residential corridors. That was if she trusted her own memory.
"So... where exactly was Szayel headed off to?"
"Not sure, he didn't exactly tell me anything before he departed; knowing him though, it has to play some kind of importance to him." Nemu answered, trailing just a few steps behind the taller woman. "He tends to know what he's doing, I imagine there's something that's been toying with him in these last few hours."
"So he had this departure planned then?"
"Not necessarily planned, he probably just got fed up with something that was annoying him and decided to take the free opportunity." she explained. "He tends to do that from time to time. As for what could exactly be on his mind at a time like this... that's always up for debate."
Again, knowing that man... it could be anything really.
She wondered if it had anything to do with what he mentioned before. Although, was there anyone he could really encounter safely with and speak with in terms of the information he had made an experiment on? He had relied on her but... who else could there be? It wasn't something she wanted to put in her head right now, and certainly nothing she would need to busy herself with; it didn't have anything to do with her- well technically it did, but she didn't want it to. She was just here to make sure that everyone was healthy and fine, regardless of who the paternity of their child was. It didn't matter to her as long as everyone was taken care of... Still the curiosity had already been planted and she was a little desperate to know where the man would go at a time like this; who he was meeting up with anyways?
"Shut up, Matsumoto! That's none of your business!"
The sudden shout coming from the end of the corridor in front of them didn't signify any type of good news and she frowned at the thought of what might be going on, or what might've provoked that kind of yelling. She found herself picking up her pace a bit to try and get there quicker before anything dangerous happened. From the sounds of it, it seemed as though Hinamori and Matsumoto were getting into it... which wasn't anything new, but was still a dangerous game to play.
"It was just a question, don't get so upset!"
Yeah, definitely time to pick up the pace.
Rushing around the next corridor, she hurried to the only open door there happened to be and quickly slid herself in through the doorframe. "What's going on in here?!" Isane questioned, watching as the three inside snapped around towards her; judging by the rush of red on the Fifth Lieutenant's face, she was the one getting irritated the most.
"Nothing, I just asked Hinamori a simple question and she's getting all defensive about it." Matsumoto answered first, cutting off the other woman before she had a chance to respond. A light chuckle escaped her as she moved to pinch the space between her eyes. "I simply asked how good Lieutenant Chojiro was in the bed."
For a moment, she almost regretted having rushed to get here so soon.
"Matsumoto... you can't just ask people personal things like that." Isane remarked with a low groan, one hand moving to rub at the back of her neck. "I came running down this hallway because I thought this was something important to worry over..."
"You mean you're not the least bit curious?" the blonde-haired woman asked. "An answer really isn't important though, her face gave it away anyways."
"It's none of your business." Momo insisted, crossing her arms tightly over her chest. "You don't see me asking you things like that."
"I wouldn't care if you did or not."
Shaking her head, Isane let out a soft sigh and caught eyes with Nanao, who matched the same shaking of the head; seeing as she had probably witnessed the whole thing, she deserved more of the shameful face palm over this whole thing. This was not a good start to getting everyone together for a few hours... although at least she didn't have to go and round up everyone first. Maybe it was still salvageable... maybe not. Glancing over one shoulder, she watched as the Twelfth Lieutenant slowly appeared in the doorway and remained there for a short while, as though to test if the room was safe enough to enter once more. "Well, not exactly how I imagined this little get together to start but... it's something I guess."
"What get together?" Momo repeated.
"Well, I figured since we all had a busy morning and we're all just trying to adjust here... that it wouldn't hurt to have a night to ourselves and such." Isane started before a light sigh broke her words. "But if you guys just want to fight the entire time, I guess it just means that nothing's really changed."
"Man, all we need is Kiyone and we'd have a full party." Matsumoto remarked. "Why isn't she up here again?"
"Because she got knocked up by Sentaro." Momo answered.
"Don't remember me, please." Isane sighed, rubbing at one temple for a brief moment. "Which reminds me, I have a letter she somehow got Yumichika to deliver to me that I still have to read, not sure if I'm all that curious to know how it ends."
"You should read it now." the Tenth Lieutenant urged as she moved to fold her legs underneath her. "It'd be a nice little piece of entertainment for everyone."
"How about not."

She would be okay.
She didn't need to be in his line of sight twenty-four hours, even though he would have preferred that... she would be in the company of the other females though, so that was a splice of good news. There were very few male figures around, the ones who remained were barely worth his attention- although he would go out of his way again to set them back if it was necessary. Actually, he was tracking down one of those men right now; he never met him and only had a few glimpses of what he looked like... but there was a lot for them to discuss. He had a faint understanding of where to find him though, if he could catch on to a faint signal, then tracking him down would be no problem.
He just had to look for the right thing...
"It's about time you two got back."
That voice was hard to miss and could easily be recognized from anywhere. And seeing as she was speaking to other figures, with most of their known party elsewhere in the Division, there was a good chance that the man he was searching for was there. Easy enough then.
"Retsu, this small building is almost as complicated to navigate as your Division is, do try to spare us a few minutes to find rooms."
Now that was a voice he couldn't identify. It wasn't that second Captain he was aware of, the same one he went out of his way to not speak with... perhaps the one he was searching for then.
"Ukitake here needed to catch a break."
"Don't listen to Kyōraku, I'm perfectly fine."
There was the other Captain.
The one he was searching for was definitely there then. Now all he had to do was wait for an open opportunity to step in and request for the new Captain's attention- he wouldn't want to interrupt their delightful conversation.
"That's just like the two of you, isn't it? Always late and making me have to wait for you."
"It's nothing like that."
On second thought, perhaps it would be best to interrupt them now while their exchanging of words was going nowhere. Picking up his pace a bit, he finished off the corridor that laid in front of him and moved to step into one of the central areas of this strange building; he hadn't gotten the chance to explore the rest of the place, but it seemed like everyone preferred to stay in this one area. Then again, it was the easiest to locate and large enough to fit everyone comfortably... not that everyone necessarily stayed in the same place all that often. He imagined the Fourth Captain chose that sitting area for the sheer fact that anyone could find her regardless of where they started. With the exception of those two Captains apparently...
He paused momentarily in the open doorway that carved out a space to his right, taking a few brief seconds to examine the trio of figures who occupied the space in the room. There was the Fourth Captain and the Thirteenth Captain... the third one had to be the one he was searching for.
The Eighth Division Captain.
