A/N: No need to apologize for the number of reviews/questions/comments/brief glimpses of hilarious encounters, I find them all to be engaging and humorous when the time calls for it. I've never had someone provoke so many questions about a story before so it really helps me try to flesh out the plot a little more with every chapter. I do get a little overloaded as one question causes me to become almost too creative and want to add about five or six more complicated matters that would really only kill me in the end lol. My mind can take a life of its own sometimes but I just want to take things chapter by chapter right now- not to say that I don't have some of those complicated matters jotted down somewhere for later reference...
"I don't think he likes me still."A light chuckle escaped the fourth Division Captain as she glanced over to the exasperated man next to her; his brow wrinkled slightly from his exhausted effort to get on the Espada's good side at the very least. Despite his best effort, it seemed to be for naught. "Oh, I'm sure he'll come around eventually; he just has a lot to deal with right now. I mean, with the moving and making sure everyone is getting settled in, keeping an eye on the girls and everything that's going on... just give him some time."
"He walked in, made eye contact with me and then left immediately afterwards." Ukitake replied.
"... Like I said, just let him move at his own pace."
A long sigh escaped him as he moved to cross his arms over his chest; watching as the woman took care of the last set of files she had carried in with her. Somehow, possibly because of Akon's working, she managed to secure her own small office in the secluded building; it was a little bigger than the standard walk in closet, not a whole lot of space to work with but it was better than nothing. It had certainly caught her by surprise when a few of the Division officers showed it to her just before they lead the other women to their wings. "I don't think he trusts other men in close location."
"Well, their species is dominated by an animalistic-type drive; it wouldn't be surprising to see that trait come to surface during these kind of times." Unohana commented. "I believe we discussed this matter a few times before, you're just having to deal with it from the uglier side." a light chuckle escaped her as she watched him shake his head in seeming disappointment. It was certainly uncommon to have anyone dislike the Thirteenth Captain, if anything he was friends with everyone- including Captain Byakuya with how difficult he could be at times. "If it bothers you, you can always ask him."
"That would be rude." he answered. "I just tell myself that I saw how displeased he was with Captain Byakuya's appearance and I convince myself that at least I'm not at that level of dislike. I do wonder why he showed up in the first place."
"Knowing Captain Byakuya, he was just there to keep record and test the Espada's reaction." Unohana shrugged lightly. "And, on an off the record note, he may just be here to test the entire experiment overall. See what happens when he pushes the Espada, test the reaction and make it worse just to experiment with it."
"I would not be surprised by it."
"Well, you know how Captain Byakuya can be."
Sighing lightly once more, he glanced up at the sound of faint laughter radiating from the distant corridor and caught a slight glimpse of Captain Shunsui running by. He swore it looked like he had Lieutenant Nanao hoisted up on his shoulder but the Eighth Captain had been moving too fast for him to get a clear image. Now that the other Captain had arrived as well... he remembered how interested the Espada had been at the mention of the Eighth Captain; he might've even held a brief interest in wanting to speak with the man. It seemed odd at the time but perhaps he was merely surveying his opponents and studying each of them individually. That would make a terrible amount of sense... although it left a slightly frightening aftermath just the same. "I see Shunsui didn't wait long."
"Oh dear... well, I'm certain Lieutenant Nanao is already on his case about it." Unohana chuckled lightly. "I mean, he won't be able to do that later on so I guess he's taking advantage of it now- not to say it's a good idea even at this timing."
"Well, I'm sure either Lieutenant Nanao or the Espada will bring that to his attention." Ukitake remarked. "... You know, he asked about him quite a bit; it was kind of odd but it almost seemed like the Espada was impatient to meet him."
"You have to look and see who's involved here and see what he's done with the other characters in link." she explained as she moved to briefly readjust her braid. "There was Lieutenant Kurotsuchi and... well everyone knows his connection with Captain Mayuri; there's Lieutenant Matsumoto but without Captain Hitsugaya's presence, he doesn't have to bother himself with the man; with Lieutenant Momo, well... since she doesn't have an overlooking Captain, he doesn't have to pair himself with whoever would be her overhead authority. But with Lieutenant Nanao, her Captain is now present and involved in the matter; you could say he feels obligated to know the man just enough to form a bridge of trust. He holds a great amount of protectiveness over the woman but if he feels as though he could trust another person, mostly another male, then he'll let them willingly trespass. Nanao has known Shunsui far longer than she knew him, so he understands the sense of loyalty they would have between one another; he's not going to risk breaking that relationship in fear it would upset her."
This whole thing was a mental game, wasn't it?
It certainly bypassed anything he would've thought of. Then again, the Fourth Captain had been here longer than he had so she had a greater understanding for it. Not to mention, she probably would've had to figure all of this out in order to bypass into the Espada's close circle of trust.
How could they all be so certain that he trusted them though? How did they know he wasn't just... pulling a blanket of illusion over their heads? Then again, now was not the time for suspicion and second-thoughts- there were more important things for them to do.
"Any ideas for where he went off to?"
"Hmm, knowing him, he's already completed his rounds to the other woman so he's probably back on his way to Lieutenant Kurotsuchi." she replied. "He'll probably stay there for quite some time if you want to drop by for a visit and ask him why he seems to dislike you so much."
"I told you, that would be rude of me to do, Retsu."

His knuckles rapped lightly against her door just before he pushed it from its frame; glancing into the seemingly empty room of opened but unpacked boxes. It was practically a nightmare trying to get her to pack seeing as she expressed the feeling that she didn't need anything; constantly repeating that they would just be boxes of material things that held no general purpose. Eventually, he managed to convince her to bring something along and even packed a few things when she wasn't looking. While she did have a good reason for the standing, he figured the place wasn't going to look too homely anyways and any little thing would help- he was right about the place looking less than comforting. While he tried not to dive too deeply in wondering what exactly the place was used for or what it was built for, it was near impossible not to question it. There was sure to be a good explanation but he wasn't interested in it.
"There aren't that many places to go." he called in; stepping in through the doorway before he closed it tightly behind him. "And yet you still manage to camouflage yourself."
It didn't take her long to step her way slowly out of the room in the far corner; hands busy as they pulled together a white sash around her ribcage. A different uniform seemed to fall loosely around her slender form- actually coining the word 'different' wasn't making all too much of a truth. The uniform looked almost identical to her last one with the exception that the hem dropped a bit lower to skim a few inches above her knees; a white, fabric sash had replaced her obi one and was tied a bit higher, just underneath her breasts.
"Even better, you change your appearance as well."
If her expression had changed, it moved into one of less amusement at his remark. "I couldn't get my obi sash to close properly this morning and this was the only other uniform choice I had."
Chuckling lightly to himself, he kept a remark about how another uniform choice could've been one that lacked a uniform in the first place to himself; he slowly walked over to where she was still messing with the white sash and gathered a small bundle of the black material in his hands. Pulling back carefully, he watched as the fabric conformed around the now noticeable bump of her stomach; the gradual curve now apparent as she moved through the fifteenth week of pregnancy.
"Well I can certainly see why."
Her hands moved to lie over his own before she gently brushed them aside. "You should know why as well."
"I wasn't exactly second guessing myself on the reason for it, I was merely noting its presence." he replied; moving his hands to cup her cheeks lightly as he leaned down to press his forehead against her own.
She wasn't entirely in a mood to be touched right now but he managed to sway her on the decision. Her fingers grasped loosely to his shirt as she took a moment to relax in his hands. "How are the other women doing? Have they settled in nicely?"
"From what I've observed, yes."
"You didn't ask them?"
"I saw no reason why. Based on my observations, they seemed well in health and I trust my eyes more than I would trust their words; they did not seem to fake any kind of emotion although they all did express mild discomfort, which was normal." he started. "Hinamori was speaking with a new figure when I dropped by, some Lieutenant by the name of Chojiro; I did witness Nanao in the arms of another Captain in the middle of the hallway- I can only presume it was that Shunsui character they've been speaking about; and... uh well, Isane was keeping Matsumoto company and... they were modeling some odd-looking material."
"If it was with Matsumoto, then I'm sure it was a show to enjoy." she retorted lightly; watching as he seemed to frown briefly at the words. She pressed her fingers against his lips when he made the motion to speak- interrupting him before he could even start. "Take my words with ease, they were merely placed to cause you to stumble."
He hated it when she played him like that.
Chuckling lightly at himself, he moved to grasp her hands tightly in his own hands as he pulled them down and held them against her stomach. "You know, with your slender frame, you should be able to start feeling the baby move in, minimum, two weeks. And then in four weeks, he or she will be more active."
"Is that when the sleepless nights begin?" she questioned. "If so, then I'll be able to keep Isane company when she cannot sleep as well."
"Oh yes, and then you two can chit-chat and pass gossip around." he teased; placing a soft kiss against her forehead. "Now come on, we have to get these boxes emptied and out of here by the end of the day. There's not a lot that we can do with the place but we can offer an attempt with it."
She watched as he pulled away and moved his attention to the collection of boxes around. None of which she had really packed, but things he had asked her all too constantly about until she gave him an acceptable answer. "... What's your opinion on this place, Aporro?"
"I have a lot of opinions and words to share, none of which are appropriate in any manner." he started. "If anything, I believe it's a waste of space, an useless danger to the environment and an overall failure on this Division's half; it's a terrible mishandling of this delicate situation- the better choice would be to take more people out, rather than bring them in. In fact, if this building could've been shut down to just those physically involved, then there would be little problems in this matter. If it had just been you, the other ladies and myself... then I would have no grounds to complain. But things don't work out that way, now do they? At the very least, I suppose we should all be glad that Captain of yours is out of the picture for now. I'd imagine that by now he'd be carving everyone up and removing fetus the first chance it was plausible; toss them into a suitable test tube and keep going with the experiment. Give three weeks of a healing period, and they'll be ready to jump back into the experiment-" there was a brief pause in his words as he caught on to what he was finally saying. A mental sigh escaped him as he tried to focus more on opening the boxes at his feet; it was difficult to remember that while he held a great amount of anger and hatred for the man... she was a different case. She was still stuck in that Captain-Lieutenant loyalty; the creator and creation type deal. It was a thin line to cross and a few times he seemingly leaped over it and had gotten himself on her bad side.
"Do not bother to mind your words anymore... I don't belong to him; I belong to you."
And just like that, his focus moved away from the boxes and went back to her. Another sigh escaped him before he permitted a brief chuckle to come shortly after. "No... you don't belong to me; you're with me."
