A/N: I didn't forget, I promise! Life just had to get in my way for a little bit. But, as an update, passed my class finally, had to take some time off for myself, computer ended up crashing so I was without it for almost two weeks- hence no updates- but I got it back and I'm trying to balance through quite a bit right now. A lot of my stories need updating and I hit a writer's block for most of them, so they're on hold. Enough about life though. I apologize if the spacing seems weird, my computer doesn't upload the chapters correctly anymore now but I'm hoping I corrected most of it.
“Well… at least the place looks cozy.”She glanced back at the remark and watched as the white-haired Lieutenant seemed to linger in the open doorway for a small while; his colorless eyes seemingly scoping over the room- although the lack of pupils made it difficult to tell if he was actually looking at anything. A brief sigh escaped her as she moved her hands to her hips and looked the place over herself- finding the urge to do so sudden spring on her after witnessing the other Lieutenant do the same. The chosen room was smaller than hers back at the Fifth Division House, but it was already furnished with a decently-sized bed, and a side table that accompanied the bed next to it; there was a small bookcase in one corner that had a few scattered manuscripts and the center of the room had a spotted rug. It was barren and undecorated which made it resemble something more like a jail cell instead but… maybe when she unpacked her things and rearranged them, it would be more accepting.
Maybe anyways.
“It’s something.” Hinamori shrugged lightly before she turned her attention back down to the boxes around her. She had packed three or four boxes of a few knick knacks she thought would help ease her through this whole situation; if not, there were things to keep her busy and take her mind off of it. And other things to make this place seem less like a dungeon. Shaking her head, she let a loose sigh fall from her lips. “It’s going to take a lot to make this place look decent though.”
He turned his sight back to her and watched as she kicked absent-mindedly at a box close to her. “I am available for assistance if you need it.”
She nodded and tried to convince herself to get back to unpacking things- finding it almost near impossible now that she had been distracted. A light groan echoed in the back of her mind as the feeling of pressure inside of her almost seemed overbearing now; she knew she it was overreacting to say that it felt like it was crushing her from the inside out but that's just how it went. "Okay, alright... I'm not going to try and bullshit around this anymore." she started; giving up on even bothering with the boxes at this point. “… Why are you here anyways, Chojiro?”
“As I said before, Captain Yamamoto wanted me to overlook and assist with the migration up here; I’ll be staying a few days to make things are running properly and do what I can to help when and if it is needed.” He answered as he took a few steps into the room; noting that it didn't look all too different even from inside. “I’ll make my leave when things are settled but I'll be sure to make frequent visits back when I can.”
“That’s a really nice answer and I’m sure you’ve been rehearsing it for awhile but… what’s the real reason?”
He didn’t seem prepared for the follow up question and stopped himself in mid-step. She was almost certain he was looking at her at this point but... again, it was near impossible to tell. “… I don’t understand what you mean by that question, Lieutenant-“
“There’s no need to keep hiding it.” She interrupted; watching as he seemed to become more rigid at her interrogation. She moved one hand to brush aside the black bangs from her face while she pressed the subject further. “I know you Chojiro and you’re not a stupid man; you’re also not one for excuses. So what are you hiding?”
It took another moment of silence before his resistance gave out; a brief sigh of broken defeat escaped from his lips. “I just… it seems like an odd coincidence, that’s all.” He started as he moved his sight from her for a moment; knowing that she wouldn't notice it. “I just want to make sure you’re okay during this whole experiment and you’re kept in good spirits.”
“Chojiro-“
“What’s going on in here?”
She moved her sights to behind the First Lieutenant and watched as the Espada walked into sight; taking up a majority of the doorway. For a moment, she braced herself and wondered just how much the Espada had overheard from them. “Lieutenant Chojiro here was just helping me with unpacking a few things; there’s a lot of places here that are way out of my reach so his assistance is greatly appreciated.”
He moved his gaze between the two of them before he gave a small nod. "Well, that's good; I don't want you doing any heavy lifting in your condition. With so many people running around here, at least someone is making a decent attempt at being useful." he started; watching as the two seemed to relax momentarily at the remarks before he turned his attention to the man. "That reminds me, who exactly are you? I don't think we got the chance to make introductions."
"You know what, you two can talk this over while I hit the bathroom for the third time this hour." Hinamori stated as she started for the door in the far corner of her room. "Don't do anything crazy while I'm gone."
At least she seemed to be feeling better than how she did before. He'd have to stop by at a later time and make sure of it. Until then though, there was a lot more for him check up on. "Anyways, as we were saying..."
"Yes, I apologize for not introducing myself earlier, that was rather rude on my part." Chojiro started as he dragged his attention away from the disappearing woman. He had to admit, the Espada wasn't not entirely how he had imagined him out to be- not that he had been given a direct description of the man. "I am Chojiro Sasakibe; I serve as Lieutenant of the First Division under Captain Yamamoto. It is under his orders that I am to be present here for the start of this operation; this whole situation has put him into a complicated position but he sees this as an appropriate reaction. I am under the guidance of being here for safety reasons- I don't want any of the ladies involved getting hurt."
"What's your standing on this whole matter then?"
"... I can't say that I've necessarily carried my own thoughts on the matter; I believe it's easier if I don't concentrate on that right now. It's easier to carry on the image of a bodyguard when I don't allow myself to gather a complete opinion on this experiment." he spoke.
It was a plausible excuse, he had to give the Lieutenant that much.
If anything, it was almost perfect.
"Alright, well regardless of what your standing is on this situation, let me spare a minor word with you, Lieutenant. I know you want to keep them safe and fill the steps of the image that you're supposed to play... but it seems like you're more in-tuned to working with Hinamori's case instead." the white-haired man showed little reaction to the remark but the slight tense pull of his facial expression and the pull of the muscles in his neck said otherwise. "I'll give you a piece of advice right now... if you want to stay on my good side, I suggest you limit how much time you spend with her. I don't want to see you with her again."

A tired sigh escaped her as she moved to set aside the now empty box that had been resting in her lap; fingers grabbing the next one in line and dragging it closer to her. She almost had the entire bookcase filled out and she still had... three more boxes of books to go through. They would probably have to stay in their boxes unless she could convince the Division to give her a second bookcase- that would probably be impossible to do though; although, she bet if she brought it up with Szayel, she could get three bookcases out of it.
The next box had all of her Victorian-era novels. They weren't necessarily her favorite but she had gotten bored one day and had looked into checking out a bunch of them; next thing she knew, she had a small collection cluttering her desk and working space. She worked carefully to put them in one by one and made sure to utilize the given space she had left; fingertips played with a few of their worn down leather covers while making sure their string-attached bookmarks didn't get ripped off by accident. The travel to get all the way to this new building was a bit tiring for her, more than she had previously been expecting so unpacking all these boxes was more therapeutic for her. It gave her a chance to sit down and just... find a place for herself. The new room was not the least bit exciting, if anything it was dull and horribly furnished- but it was better than sitting in examination rooms for hours on time. At least for now.
Emptying out yet another box, she tossed it aside before she decided to lean back on her arms for a while; overlooking what she had done for now. The room still looked incredibly empty but it was a start at least.
Certainly didn't look like a place to have a child, but that was just her opinion.
Fingers moved to push up on her glasses for a moment before a brief knock at the door caught her attention. Glancing back over one shoulder, she watched as a tall figure had to duck through the doorway in order to fit; his chiseled face broken with a sincere grin.
"Captain Shunsui-" she started as she moved to push herself to her feet.
Before she even had the chance to get partly off the ground, he had his hands linked underneath her arms before he lifted her completely into the air. "Nanao! It has been far too many months since I have last seen you!" he greeted.
She tried to manage at least a brief grin at his appearance but was forced to kick him lightly against his open abdomen. "I'm just as excited but you can't lift me like this anymore, I'm getting sick again." she remarked.
He took notice of the sudden drop in her skin tone and the grimaced expression on her face. "I apologize, Ise, I suppose I forgot about your condition." he replied as he set her back on her feet. "How are you feeling? How have you been? Did you really bring that many books?"
"I'm fine, just trying to get through that nauseous stage and yes, I need this many books to keep me occupied; in fact, I don't think I brought enough to keep me busy for however long I'm supposed to be here." Nanao answered; subconsciously bringing her hands up to tease the open hem of his pink Kimono. "And another thing, Captain, you've only been gone for three weeks at most- that's hardly even a month."
"Yes, but it feels like forever and a day has past since I last saw you." he replied before he brought his hands to lightly cup her cheeks. "I'm so glad to see you again. You know, I was looking over the accommodations to your room here, and I think we could do something better with it-"
"I'm not allowed to drink anymore." she interrupted with a brief and slight chuckle. "So don't even think of decorating it with sake bottles."
"Then I believe I am out of ideas already."
That's what she figured. The man never strayed too far from where he usually stood; if anything he was probably worse than before given the new situation. She had a feeling that if he chose to get involved in this matter, which there was no doubt that he would, he'd be on her very heel and try to pamper her. Which... she supposed she was okay with to an extent but again... she didn't want to cause any rifts with anyone. After all, it was true when they said that the Espada was highly territorial and protective of them- he nearly went face to face with Captain Byakuya even though he knew he'd stay no chance against the Shinigami. And... well no one else had a Captain to look over them, she didn't want the others to feel out of place or get jealous; there was always Captain Unohana and Captain Ukitake but... they weren't the same. She was sure if Captain Hitsugaya was here, then Matsumoto would be fine; Hinamori didn't have a Captain though, she was practically her own Captain- alone in the situation.
"Have you been thinking of any names?"
It was at that point she noticed the Captain had practically wrapped himself around her midsection with his head resting against her stomach. "Ugh, what?" Nanao questioned as she attempted to push him aside only for him to tighten his grasp on her. "It's only been like... three, maybe four weeks; it's impossible to tell if it's a boy or girl or if it's even... it's just too early, alright? I don't want to hassle myself with picking out a name right now or end up hating it later on."
"Knowing you, you'd probably name it after some kind of famous writer or philosopher. Like Socrates Jr. or something." Shunsui remarked. "Then again, knowing you, you're bound to be one of those strict mothers-"
"Well I figured if I can deal with you on a daily basis, I can deal with a child just the same." she retorted with a light tease as her fingertips went to playing in his curled hair. "Better yet, I bet a child will be easier to handle. And for your information, I would not name my child Socrates Jr."
"Were you thinking about it?"
"No." Yes.
"You know, I read the name Honoka somewhere; I think that would be a beautiful name." Shunsui started.
Honoka?
How was it that... he seemed perfectly fine with this, if not overall pleased? It wasn't that he knew that the child actually belonged to him, that he was the real father- everyone else was completely convinced that the paternity of it belonged to the Espada instead; only she and Szayel knew about the whole matter and they were playing a heavy risk with that alone. But, even though he was in the mindset of everyone else, he was still happy for her. He was still willing to be at her side and think up names with her; he was willing to come all the way out here to be with her alone. And while she thought the best thing to do right now would be to tell him... it wasn't entirely her place; again, both her and the Espada were running a risk and... she didn't want to take him down. There was a lot more to fear for his safety than her own.
A light chuckle escaped her as she looked down to where he was completely content with being against her stomach; she was sure he was going to lose it when she started to show heavier signs and lifted a larger stomach. "Honoka... is that the best you could think of?"

"Ugh, this place looks like shit."
Isane chuckled lightly to herself as she watched the blonde-haired woman look over the new room with disgust. "I agree completely with you but right now... we'll just have to make due with what we have"
"Which isn't much." Matsumoto added; forcing herself to walk around the small room a bit more. "Well I guess I should be glad they gave me a bed and didn't just say 'here's a mat you can sleep on.'"
She didn't want to tell the woman that she thought she might've been overreacting a bit, because it seemed like she was. Then again, the room really wasn't much aside from four walls and a ceiling with the necessary furniture needed. One hand moved to ruffle her silver locks before she stepped into the room; stooping down to pick up a box nearby. "Here, why don't we start unpacking some things and see if they liven the place up a little bit."
"I doubt my collection of posters and lingerie will do much." Matsumoto shrugged before she turned back to the boxes behind her. "But might as well see what they do. I think I stuffed a lamp somewhere in one of these packages."
"I don't want to ask, I really don't... but did you seriously pack lingerie?" Isane questioned as she moved another box further into the room with the side of her foot.
"Yeah, I thought we could all get together and have a big sleepover when we got here." she answered as she knelt down to open the closest box to her. Shuffling through the mix of fabrics inside, she pulled loose something of a light-gray material and bundled it lightly. "Here, I packed one for you too." giving the object a light toss, she watched as the other woman seemed to stumble over a reaction before she briefly caught the material on the box in her hands. "I think it'll be fitting."
"Oh yeah, I bet just as fitting as that costume you tried to get me to wear a few years ago for Halloween." Isane replied with a light roll of her eyes as she set the box down for a moment; regretfully plucking whatever kind of material the woman had tossed in her direction. The sheer lace of it felt soft in her hands before it fell to its full length in front of her- well, length was actually quite a funny word to use on the piece. "Matsumoto, my hair is longer than... whatever this is."
She chuckled lightly at the woman's expression before she pulled loose a vibrant orange piece for herself; holding it out in front of her uniform. "Yeah, I figured if we could all match the same style then we could wear whatever color we wanted. I thought gray would be suiting for you since you hate most noticeable colors."
"You're ridiculous." Isane spoke with a light catch of a laugh on the tip of her tongue; mimicking the woman's same modeling technique. "Why did you bring these anyways? You're stuck up here in the mountains with not a lot of men around to see these."
"Who says I should wear them for a man? Maybe I just want to wear them for myself." Matsumoto countered. "Actually, I figured I could get a few more uses out of them before I have to buy myself a new, larger wardrobe and say goodbye to these precious things."
"Oh, give it a few months after and you'll be able to slip right back into these things." she assured. "Not that there's really all too much to slip into in the first place."
"Is... everything going alright in here?"
The question caused her to turn around slightly to greet whoever the third voice belonged to; spotting the Espada in the doorway first... and while the slightly puzzled look on his face caught her off-guard, she soon remembered why. "Oh, uh... yeah, yeah we're fine." Isane quickly answered as she bundled the lace material in one hand and tossed it aside. "We're just... unpacking, that's all."
He gave a slow nod as he watched the two woman quickly discard the lace materials they had once been 'modeling' just before his arrival. The slight crimson blushes on their cheeks said they hadn't been expecting his approach and... he slightly regretted not making it more noticeable. "Yes well... if you need any help, I'll be just down the hallway..."
"I think we have it covered but uh... I-I'll keep it in mind." Isane replied; watching as he seemed to give another slow glance between them before he continued on his way. She waited until his footsteps had disappeared before she released the heavy breath from her chest; turning back around to the laughing woman behind her. "If that wasn't the most embarrassing moment of my life..."
"Well hey, it could've been worse." Matsumoto chuckled. "It could've been Captain Unohana or Captain Ukitake, better yet, Yumichika could've found his way up here. Now that would've been for some great laughs."
She rolled her eyes and went back to moving the boxes from before. "Oh please, Yumichika wouldn't be caught dead up here."
"I bet he would if he heard you were wearing some lacy lingerie I happened to have laying around."
"You know what, I'm going to go see if anyone else needs help."
Matsumoto chuckled once more before she picked up the lingerie piece that had been tossed before and threw it back into its rightful box. "Here, I'll just put these underneath my bed for safe keepings; you can keep the gray one if you like it." she watched as the woman shook her head and threw it back to her. "It's brand new, never been worn, so if you change your mind it's still here."
"I don't care. I'm not wearing it."
Retrieving the gray suit next, she kicked the box back open and dropped it in; using the side of her foot, she pushed it over to the bed and knelt down. Ugh, she needed to remove these dainty bed sheets and replace them with something more... colorful. She packed another set of bed sheets somewhere, she just needed to find them and get them back out. On second thought, she should probably roll a few of those lingerie pieces and make sure they didn't get wrinkles- not that anyone would really notice if they had wrinkles anyways. At least it gave her something to do instead of dealing with the main bulk of unpacking.
Pushing the top of the box open once more, she picked up the gray piece and gently folded it into a more proper position; pausing momentarily when she caught sight of a white piece slightly pushing out. Fingers gently plucked it free and watched as it hung out in front of her. If anything, it was one of her favorite pieces to wear... it certainly had to be Captain Hitsugaya's just as well with how often she wore it. It was hard to believe just a few weeks ago that this was the main piece she wore; the few times she actually pulled together the front of her uniform was only because she was wearing this piece underneath it. It just made things more fun and exciting during the day and certainly during the meetings he was stuck in; she was sure the thought of her wearing this made the meeting impossible to concentrate on.
Thinking back on it now probably wasn't the best thing to do though.
Of course he had to agree to go out on that stupid mission and separate himself from her; he had to put who knows how long of time between them just to... hell, she didn't even know what the mission was about. He didn't have the authority to tell her what it was or where they were going or how long they'd be gone. And it was like a two-sided blade to say that she wanted him back as soon as possible. The Society functioned better with all their Captains present and while he more than likely would be dismayed over the whole situation, at least the thought of him being close by and somewhere within reach would be comforting to her.
But... if he returned, then so would all the other Captains... and so would Captain Mayuri.
And as far as she knew, almost everyone here wasn't looking forward to his return. It was all much easier without his presence here, and even though she didn't have all too much exposure to him... she didn't want him back either. Although, it left a greater question as to whether or not Nemu or Akon would be looking forward to him as well. It would seem that the female Lieutenant should be the least pleased with his return, seeing how he had been treating both her and the Espada for so long... but again, he was her Captain and she had dealt with him for years; she had remained loyal to him through situations that should've been brought to someone else's attention. And Akon... he just seemed like he was trying to both follow orders and help with what he could; he was put into a difficult position of power, one that had been held by a tyrant and he was expected to follow those same footsteps.
The sudden pull of the outfit from her hands snapped her free from her thoughts as she glanced up to see the silver-haired woman standing above her.
"I don't want to know what you were thinking about, but you've been staring at this thing for a long time." Isane teased.
"Ha, yeah... I guess I just had some really fun times with it." Matsumoto remarked; stumbling somewhat through a brief chuckle as she snatched the material back from the woman and dropped it back into the open box. Kicking the package underneath her bed, she pushed herself back to her feet and looked around at the semi-opened boxes that the Fourth Lieutenant had worked through. "Alright, well... back to unpacking I guess."
