Chapter 24 - Weary
Aaroniero began to squirm, hoping that Grimmjow would get the message and move. As much as he enjoyed the sex, and it killed him to admit it, he wanted to get dressed and go back to Las Noches, perhaps even eat some Hollow on his way there, since the activity drained him of some of his strength and he was starting to feel hungry, real hungry.
Grimmjow tiredly smirked, and finally pushed himself off the body beneath him. If it wasn't for the blood loss, he would've certainly gone another round with the 9th Espada, but as things were, he wanted to go back just as much as Aaroniero did. The injuries he suffered on his arms were starting to sting now that the adrenaline was gone and his annoyance at what happened was quickly coming back. His eyes focused on Aaroniero who was slowly getting up. Grimmjow thought the man looked quite sexy covered in blood, although he wished it was the 9th's blood and not his own. Aaroniero finally got up and staggered to his clothes. He stopped there for a second and contemplated what to do. He could get dressed but then he'd completely dirty his clothes. "You bled all over me," he spoke dejectedly. Grimmjow laughed. "So what? Who's fault is that?" he said and raised his arm to show the three punctured holes in it. "You should be happy I didn't crush your skull or injured you and left you here as food for lowly Hollows." Aaroniero flinched at that. It was true, it was his own fault and he truly regretted trying to fool Grimmjow like that. He knew he should have gotten killed for what he had done. Grimmjow was higher in rank and he had every right to kill him considering he was the one who attacked first, but he hadn't and for that he was grateful. It truly had been a bad idea, and he was decided to never again attempt such a thing with the 6th again. "I'm sorry about that," Aaroniero finally spoke, his voice low, almost a whisper, "please forgive me." Grimmjow walked up to Aaroniero and firmly grabbed his wrist, making him shiver under his touch. "I will, but only because of this," and then the 9th's high pitched yelp resonated throughout the Menos Forest as Grimmjow slapped him on the ass, a mocking grin forming on his face at seeing Aaroniero's mortified expression. The hand didn't leave the firm muscles of Aaronier's behind and instead worked its way between his ass cheeks, quickly thrusting a finger inside even as the other's body was clencing, desperately trying to keep out the invading object. "You're still so wet and stretched, it's like an invitation to fuck you all over again," whispered Grimmjow in his ear after pulling him into an embrace. The finger never left Aaroniero's passage and instead kept going in and out, making the 9th moan in pleasure even as he was desperately trying to keep his mouth shut. "You're such a wanton whore, I just fucked you yet your ass is telling me how it wants to get pounded all over again." "I... I can't help it," finally said Aaroniero while panting. It really felt good, his cock already beginning to harden against the strong body he was held. And then the finger withdrew and so did Grimmjow's arm, causing him to almost collapse form lack of support. He raised his head and looked at the other Espada, the sadistic smirk a promise of suffering to come. "Now that you're horny all over again, get dressed, and don't you dare touch yourself," commanded Grimmjow, then turned around and picked up his own clothes, leaving Aaroniero to clench his teeth in frustration. Grimmjow didn't feel guilty in the slightest, considering he had every right to kill Aaroniero where he stood, but he didn't, and in his opinion the gluttonous bitch should be forever grateful for being allowed the privilege to keep breathing. He quickly got dressed and turned around to see him still struggling to put his clothes on. "Hurry up or I'm leaving you here," he barked the order, sick of waiting and not really in the mood to waste any more time. The 9th finished dressing as quickly as he could, retrieved his weapon and after returning it to its sealed state, he picked up the pace and followed Grimmjow who in the meantime started heading in the direction of Las Noches. "Wait, we'll get back faster if you follow me." He heard Grimmjow grunt but was happy to see the other followed him anyway. He knew many secret passages and shortcuts, and showing one of them to Grimmjow was not really a problem. Neither talked during the time they spent getting back but it was a comfortable silence. Aaroniero was still somewhat frustrated for what Grimmjow did just before they left but he got over it and was anxious to get back and flop on his bed after taking a long shower. Once they entered Las Noches, and after putting his mask back on, Aaroniero frowned as he saw Grimmjow's blood dripping on the white spotless floor. His weapon did go through the 6th arm after all so it had to be quite a serious injury, although one wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at Grimmjow's face. Then again, the other had a lot more tolerance to pain than he did. The worst part was that he was hungry, not having eaten after realizing that him feeding might disgust Grimmjow. "If you piss me off again, I won't hesitate to kill you, got it?" the 6th voice startled him. Aaroniero answered with a nod, then both of them Sonido-ed away towards their respective rooms. As soon as Grimmjow opened the door and saw how the Shinigami wasn't there, a feeling of anger mixed with worry overtook him. Many questions ran through his mind, and he wondered if Ichigo was still with Aizen, or if someone else took him, or worse, what if he had been killed? He quickly went to the meeting room only to see he wasn't there. As he walked out and through the hallway he noticed the small droplets of blood on the floor, which clearly belonged to Ichigo. He deduced that if he was injured then perhaps he was getting treated but that theory turned out to be wrong once he went there and didn't find anyone besides the female Arrancar that had treated his pet before. "Grimmjow-sama," she called, but he wasn't paying any attention to her. She called his name again, but louder, and this time he heard. "Whadya want?" "Do you wish to have your wounds treated?" He looked at her, then at his arm, and concluded his injury could wait."Later," he finally answered then left the room as quickly as he had entered. He had to figure out who had him, who would dare attack his pet after Aizen said they were not allowed to touch him. Then it hit him, it had to be Szayel, he was the only one who was allowed to go anywhere near him, and he was sure the crazy scientist wouldn't waste any second and immediately begin experimenting on him. He didn't like it, in fact it was making him furious, Aizen letting Szayel experiment on his pet being just another slap, or better said outright punch to his face. A few moments later he found himself slamming the door to Szayel's lab so hard he almost obliterated it, surprised to find not only the Shinigami there but also Lilinette and Yammy's pet, the small girl watching over Ichigo. Judging by the way he had startled her, it seemed as though she was sleeping when he arrived there. Szayel was nowhere in sight but he knew the man was close and that in a matter of seconds he would be there. Before that happened though, he was going to take Ichigo away from there and back to his room. He stomped to the table and raised his hand to grab his property only to stop when the girl grabbed his wrist in an attempt to not let him touch Ichigo. He looked into her pink eye. "Let go before you lose those hands." Lilinette's courage almost faltered under his heavy gaze but she was decided not to yield. Ichigo was injured and she wanted him to get better so she could talk to him. "B-but he's injured!" Grimmjow growled and Lilinette pulled her hands back on instinct. "He'll live. Who injured him?" Lilinette was silent for a moment, as if trying to remember what exactly happened but right at that moment Szayel entered the lab, yelling as loud as he could at Grimmjow about him being a brute who could only wreck things wherever he went. The 6th was out of patience. He grabbed Ichigo and was about to take him into his arms when Szayel quickly got there and stopped him. "Don't move him! He's not well enough to be moved." "What happened?" asked Grimmjow, this time a bit worried. "Yammy's reiatsu was too strong for him in his weakened state." Grimmjow's eyes narrowed. "Then what was with the blood?" "Just a nosebleed and some internal bleeding, but he'll be fine, I took care of it." Before Szayel had a chance to move a muscle, Grimmjow grabbed him by the neck and pinned him to the nearest wall. "What have you done to him? What did you experiment on him? I told you not to touch him!" Szayels seemed bored, as though he didn't even care. Grimmjow was furious. "Answer!" "Calm down you brute, I merely took some blood and DNA samples, then tried my best to stop the bleeding. Really now, this is the thanks I get for treating your pet?" Grimmjow relaxed and let him go. Aizen had clearly stated he was only to do minor experiments that wouldn't alter the Shinigami's body so there was no need to kill the 8th for it, at least not yet. Although there was that other matter he needed to discuss. "Let's go to your office." Szayel followed as uncaring as before and Lilinette watched as the two men disappeared behind a door. When she looked at Ichigo again she was surprised to see he was starting to wake up. She was mesmerized by his eyes as he slowly opened them to look around him. She could read confusion and fear into them, but there was more, like a once bright fire close to being extinguished but still not giving up the fight for survival. She was fascinated by him, and she couldn't even remember the last time she saw a human or a Shinigami so up close and personal. She noticed how he tensed when he saw her and it surprised her. "Who are you?" he finally asked, his voice low, his dry throat making it hard for him to speak. She smiled sweetly. "I'm Lilinette." Ichigo relaxed a bit, her expression too cute to be that of someone who would want to hurt him. He was worried however that Grimmjow would go berserk because he wasn't in his room. "Where am I?" You're in Szayel's lab, you fainted earlier so me and Starrk brought you here. Of course, I didn't want to come here since I don't really like Szayel, considering he's always yelling about something, but Starrk said it was for the best, so here we are. Don't worry, we didn't let him experiment on you, so I think you're fine, at least I hope, but then again, he's quite weird and sneaky so I can't be sure-" "I understand, thank you," he interrupted her when he figured it would take a while before she stopped ranting. She seemed a sweet girl, like Yuzu, and remembering her made his heart ache, but such memories served him no good at that moment, and he couldn't afford to waste any more time. She saw him trying to push himself up with his elbow but she quickly extended her arms to stop him. "Don't move, Szayel said you have to stay here for a while longer." Ichigo almost smiled, and even though he appreciated her worry, Grimmjow wasn't one to care whether he was feeling well enough to move or not. "I'm sorry, but I can't, Grimmjow is waiting for me." "He's with Szayel in his office, so don't worry about it." Ichigo visibly relaxed and slumped back on the table, his eyes immediately closing. Aizen's disgusting words were still resonating through his mind, the man's sadism making his skin crawl. He was far worse than Grimmjow. He opened his eyes and looked at the girl before him who was beginning to pout. She seemed nice, not at all like Grimmjow, but she was still a Hollow, an enemy, and he knew she wouldn't do a thing to help him, nor would any of the other Espadas or Arrancars. He wouldn't get fooled by a smile again, not after what Gin did to him. He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a bark and saw a Hollow dog next to him on the table. "This is Yammy's dog, but he lets me play with it. He likes you a lot!" Lillinette chirped. Ichigo looked at the dog wagging his tail around. He didn't know Arrancars had pets, nor cute little girl that could smile and be nice. "Why did you help me out there? I'm sure someone was about to attack me when I was feeling sick," he finally asked, curiosity getting the best of him. "Because... the puppy likes you, and I don't have many friends, Starrk sleeps all the time and I have no one to play with. I'm really really bored. Can we play together sometimes?" "Who is Starrk?" "You don't remember at all? I'm not sure how to describe him, but he's tall, his brown hair is a bit curly and he has remnants of his Hollow mask around his neck. He also yawns often and is lazy all the time." Ichigo fell silent for a moment, trying to remember the Espadas he saw in the meeting room. From the description, it sounded like the guy who interrupted him when he was trying to harm Gin. It bothered him how an Espada cared enough to save him. He wished they'd simply leave him to die alone in a corner just like the dog he ended up being. "I can't play with you and I can't be your friend either." Lilinette was shocked at his cold tone. "W-why?" "I'm your enemy, and you are mine, I've been brought here against my will, I am a prisoner and even if I want to play with you, I can't, since Grimmjow barely lets me out of his sight." His tone was bitter, unable to hold in the hate he felt for the 6th Espada. Lilinette was taken aback for a second but then her eyebrows furrowed. "I don't care!" she yelled and immediately hugged him, startling him and making him want to try and escape her embrace. "I'll ask Starrk to tell Grimmjow to let me play with you. I want you to be my friend." Ichigo felt her despair and it softened his heart. Hollow or not, she was just like any other girl of her age. When she heard her sniff it made him feel a bit guilty. "Alright, I'm sorry, I'll be your friend." His words only made her hug him harder and he patted her head, or better said, Hollow mask. Then he froze in shock. "Ok, let me go, please, right now," he insisted. She looked at him with worry and curiosity. "Did I hurt you? I'm sorry..." "No, it's just that... my arm, I can move it! I mean it's much better than before!" He raised his right arm and clenched his fist a few times, the easiness with which he was doing it surprising him to no end. His left wrist was still shattered from what he could tell since he couldn't move it, but his right arm seemed almost completely healed. "I wonder what happened..." The girl smirked, as though she knew something, making Ichigo even more curious. "Szayel might be crazy and insufferable, but he's good at this kind of stuff." Ichigo narrowed his eyes and pushed himself up, ignoring Lilinette's plea of not moving. He didn't trust that Espada, he reminded him too much of Kurotsuchi and somehow he had a feeling the man probably did some experiments on him while he was unconscious. He paled at the thought and proceeded to check himself, wondering if he was cut anywhere or if something was missing. Lilinette looked at him for a while wondering what exactly he was doing until she figured it out and knew she had to calm him down before he completely panicked. "I've been here the entire time, so don't worry, Szayel didn't do anything suspicious." Ichigo let out the breath he didn't even know he was holding. "I still don't like that guy," he admitted through clenched teeth. "Neither do I," she winked at him and got up from her chair. "Can you please sit down? Szayel said you shouldn't-" but she suddenly stopped when a powerful noise came from the scientist's office, as if something had been broken, both her and Ichigo turning their heads towards the closed door.Inside, Grimmjow had just smashed his fist into the wall behind Szayel. He really couldn't stand the asshole. The 8th Espada even had the guts to admit he intentionally told Aaroniero about him and the Shinigami, hoping the two of them would end up killing each other. As for how he knew about what happened in Karakura Town, he absolutely refused to tell. His indifference was infuriating Grimmjow, it was as if the man didn't care whether he lived or died, or maybe he was simply confident that he wouldn't be killed.
Szayel looked into Grimmjow's angry face, and unlike the previous time, he seemed completely unfazed. He had Aizen's permission to experiment on the human/Shinigami, and if the 6th did anything to stop him then he would have to answer to their leader. Although the fist that passed right next to his head made him shiver a bit. It had been too close for comfort. "Once a brute always a brute, it seems the door wasn't enough for you." Grimmjow removed his fist from the hole in the wall and grabbed him by the neck. "Shut up! You're disgusting, and I despise your sneaky tactics, you're a coward who can't even face me directly, but you know what? If you ever try anything like that again I'll kill you even if it'll cost me my life." Szayel laughed insanely at hearing his words. "You're worse than me, you who revel in breaking the Shinigami's spirit. Even if I could freely experiment on him I'd still try to treat him with some dignity. You see, it would be a beneficial arrangement, I have no need of him cowering before me, since such a thing has no scientific value. Perhaps you should give him to me, I promise I'll take good care of him, I might even fix his body, that way I'd be able to study how his power works much better than doing a few tests on the broken creature he has become because of you." Grimmjow's hold tightened around Szayel's neck, but not even a moment later he let go. "I will never give him up to you, he is mine and always will be until the day I decide to end his life," and with that the 6th Espada left the office and grabbed Ichigo before the other even knew what was happening. Lilinette wanted to follow but the angry look he saw on Grimmjow's face was enough to stop her in her tracks. Ichigo didn't fight and merely followed Grimmjow, shocked at how much better he was feeling. While before even walking was difficult, at that moment he could easily move around. He almost felt thankful to Szayel, but he still wasn't completely convinced the Espada didn't do anything suspicious to him. What peaked his curiosity however was Grimmjow's bloody arm, whether he got it from his confrontation with the other Espada or if he had it from before. If it was from before, then what happened? It looked quite bad and yet Grimmjow had no problem in keeping an iron grip on him with his injured arm. Instead of going back to the room Ichigo noticed they were heading towards the nurses' office. He wasn't surprised, no one enjoyed walking around injured when they could do something to fix it. Once they arrived there Ichigo stopped paying attention to what was happening around him and simply sat on a chair. Oddly enough, he felt as though some of his strength had returned, he felt less afraid, less desperate, and the feeling worried him because he didn't want to start believing he could be free when there was no chance of doing so. If he had his zanpakuto he'd have a higher chance of survival but even so he knew the strength he once had couldn't match the one he held at that moment. He would be able to wield his zanpakuto with one arm but one arm was not enough to block an attack from Grimmjow. His eyes turned to the Espada and he noticed they were done, the female Arrancar now heading towards him. His face turned red when he remembered what she did to him before, so he turned his head to the side in embarrassment while she cleaned his arm of the blood that dripped from Grimmjow's injury. Ichigo wished the idiot Espada would've at least allowed him to pick up the jacket that was given to him before the meeting. He wasn't comfortable at all walking shirtless around the halls of Las Noches. "Let's go," Grimmjow's commanding voice startled him. He got up and followed, this time thankful the Espada wasn't dragging him around by the arm. Sometimes Ichigo felt as though he was dead and yet alive, or it was more like his body was alive and his spirit dead. Having to live in terror every second of his life was something that was really starting to affect him. He felt as though he was spiraling downwards with each passing day. Worries such as doing his homework, or studying for some tests seemed so far away they almost felt foreign, as though such things happened to him in another life and not only a week or so ago. He wasn't even sure how much time passed since he arrived there, the moon of Hueco Mundo never giving room to a sun. He truly lived in constant darkness. When they arrived back to Grimmjow's room Ichigo was surprised to see Starrk there. He looked around but it didn't seem like Lilinette was with him. Grimmjow narrowed his eyes at the Espada who was leaning against his door. "Is there something you want?" he asked, annoyed at all the people who kept bugging him, not allowing him a moment of peace and quiet. Starrk yawned and pushed himself away from the door. He looked at Grimmjow and then at Ichigo. "Can we talk? Alone is possible." Grimmjow grabbed Ichigo by the arm, pushed him inside the room, closed the door, then leaned on the door just as Starrk did only a few moments before. "We're alone now, so what do you want?" Starrk raised his head, as if thinking, then scratched the back of his neck. He wasn't very good at talking to people, the one with all the social skills being Lilinette. Mostly all he wanted to do was sleep, but unfortunately the girl had other plans for him. "I'm not sure how to put this..." "Just spill it already!" snapped the 6th. "Is there any way you could let Kurosaki Ichigo play with Lilinette sometimes? If Lilinette is busy then I might be able to get some sleep for once, instead of getting interrupted every second." "What if I say no?" Starrk sighed. "It's up to you, I'm not here to fight or anything, you know I hate that. I only asked, you are free to say no if that's what you want. The worst that can happen is that I won't get any sleep for a few days because of your refusal." Grimmjow fell silent for a few moments, thinking it over. Starrk wasn't like most of the Espadas who used their rank to brag or order others around, and the two of them never had a conflict before. That aside, perhaps it was good for his pet to have some company once in a while, because if he was to be honest with himself, the Shinigami's behavior was starting to get on his nerves, especially after the great time he had with Aaroniero, well, except for the attempted murder part, but still, he wished his pet was more like the 9th. "I'll think about it," he finally answered. Starrk started walking away, anxious to get back to his room and flop on his comfortable bed. "Ok, you know where to find me once you decide." Grimmjow waited for Starrk to disappear after a corner, then entered his room. Inside he was met with a strange sight. Ichigo was standing in the faint light of the moon that entered through the small and high window, his arm raised as if trying to reach something beyond it. "What are you doing?" He waited for the other to answer but he was starting to think perhaps he didn't hear. A few moments later though, Ichigo opened his mouth. "I'm tired..." Grimmjow was confused. He thought the Shinigami got some rest while he was in Szayel's lab. "Didn't you just wake up?" Ichigo lowered his arm slowly and turned his head to the side. "Not that kind of tired, but I don't expect you to understand." If Grimmjow had a heart, it would've stopped in awe the moment Ichigo turned around. The 6th Espada's eyes watched the Shinigami's beauty, the moonlight making it seem as though his naked torso was glowing, and his orange hair was aflame. Then he saw as he smiled tiredly, a bitter and pained smile, and Grimmjow's body suddenly became weak. He was mesmerized and he couldn't take his eyes away from him. Before his mind even registered what he was doing, his body proceeded to move on its own and walked towards Ichigo who in turn started to back away from him, the smile he forced on earlier completely gone, his expression turning into one of disgust. It hurt Grimmjow to see that expression, even though at any other time he would've reveled in it, and when he finally cornered Ichigo, he simply grabbed him and pulled him into his arms, not letting go even when the other began to struggle in his hold. He didn't know why but he felt the need to keep the Shinigami close to him. He felt tired as well, so he dragged a struggling Ichigo to the bed and collapsed on it. "Shhh, let's just sleep. All I want to do is get some rest." When he saw the Shinigami finally slumping in his arms he relaxed a bit and found a more comfortable position on the bed, not without making sure the Shinigami could not leave his embrace. He closed his eyes and thought about what Starrk said. Maybe if he let the Shinigami around that little girl perhaps he would go back to being more like his old self. As much as he enjoyed breaking him, Grimmjow was getting bored of the pathetic creature the Shinigami had become. He missed that spunk he first saw when they had met in Karakura Town for the first time. Then, maybe one day, just maybe, the Shinigami would willingly come to him just how he imagined it would happen when he was with Aaroniero earlier that day. As the minutes went by, thinking was becoming harder and to do and soon enough Grimmjow fell asleep, the loss of blood finally taking a toll on his body. Ichigo, who was still in his embrace, was once again puzzled by the Espada's behavior. He didn't know what to think anymore, he simply couldn't understand Grimmjow at all. One moment the Espada was a heartless brutal monster and the next he seemed, well, less of a monster. He couldn't stop the shivers that went through his body at being so close to the man but he tried his best to calm himself down. By the looks of it Grimmjow fell asleep almost immediately after collapsing on the bed so there was no need to despair or panic, at least until the 6th Espada woke up. He tried to stay awake but between the surrounding silence and Grimmjow's steady breathing, combined with his mental exhaustion, he fell asleep as well. His body might've been a bit stronger but his mind felt much weaker than before.TBC
