Chapter 9: Ichigo's decision
Aizen smirked as he saw the boy walk into the throne room. He could tell from the glum look on Ichigo's face that the choices made bare for him had tortured his teenage mind, just as Aizen had intended. He'd be surprised if Ichigo actually did take the "leave" option, but he knew that despite many things the boy could be a wildcard at times. If that were to happen, Aizen would be true to his word and let the boy leave, but despite what he said previously he wouldn't kill the boy later. No, as he mused before that would be a waste of the time Aizen put into cultivating him. When the time came he'd simply capture the boy and force him into submission, this time with a more painful means of persuasion.
Even if he left he'd still keep Orihime. His offer was for only Ichigo to leave, not both and he wanted to make full use of her abilities. Not only that there was the added benefit of his children. All would be massively powerful and would prove to be useful pawns to throw at Ichigo and the Captains. But that was if Ichigo chose to leave of course. Aizen stared down at the boy as Ichigo refused to look him in the face, choosing to stare at the black floor instead. "Well Ichigo, I've given you enough time to dwell on you choices. I assume that you have made your decision?" Aizen knew the answer immediately as Ichigo glumly nodded, still taking peak interest in the floor. "Well Ichigo, yesterday I asked you if you wished to stay or go home. You hastily answered yes.. So I will ask one last time: Do you want to stay here in Las Noches or leave for your home?" He saw the conflict in the boy as he hesitated and gave him all the time in the world. He'd even dismissed Kaname, Gin and Halibel, leaving the two alone in the throne room.
Ichigo stood there feeling empty and despondent. What was the right thing to say? Was it right to leave and try to train in order to destroy Aizen with the others, leaving Orihime to suffer with his child in his place? Would his father and sisters forgive him for putting their lives above so many others? If his mother were still alive, would she still call him her son if he'd made either decision? When all of the questions piled on top of each other, something in Ichigo broke; his sense of pride and morality smashed to pieces. He hung his head in defeat 'Dad, Yuzu, Karin, Chad, Uryu, Rukia, Renji, Tatsuki, Keigo Mizuro, Mom….'
'Everyone…I'm so sorry….'
"I…I will stay here in Hueco Mundo, Aizen."
The smug ruler rose from his throne and flash-stepped to the boy's front, pleased at his plan coming into fruition. The boy had fallen into his grasp and had now chosen to lock in the chains around his neck. "You have made a wise decision Ichigo," Aizen said while putting his hands on his shoulder like a proud father would to his son, "As I promised, I will spare your family from the onslaught when the time arrives and your children are yours to raise. If you wish, you can take any of the arrancars who have mated with you as your lover, as I'm sure Halibel would be pleased to." As a show of good faith Aizen removed the collar from around Ichigo's neck and tossed it aside.
Ichigo felt his powers rush back to him, but it was a bittersweet and hollow feeling. He still wasn't sure if he'd made the right decision but at this point he didn't know what was right anymore. Speaking of lovers, he had one question that he needed answered immediately, "Orihime, what are you planning to do with Orihime?"
Aizen disappeared from his sight for a moment before reappearing in front of him again, this time holding Zangetsu in his hand. The rogue offered him his blade with a smile still on his face, Ichigo was almost put at ease by his smile before remembering who he was dealing with. "Do not fret, Ichigo. My interest in her powers is only for the benefit of the hogyoku. Like you, she will not be harmed as long as she remains in Las Noches. I will offer her the same choice I made to you, but I'm sure we both know what her answer will be." On that Ichigo could agree with him. If Orihime chose to come here simply because Ichigo was here then it was certain that she'll choose to stay.
"As for your new life here with us, I will have you moved to a much more suitable room for you and your friends. I do not want you to let your skills become lax so Halibel will spar with you regularly." Aizen gave him a knowing smile, "As for your inner hollow you need not worry. I will train you in how to control him and use the best of your vizard abilities."
Ichigo's face turned to confusion at that last sentence. "Vizard?" he asked.
"That is what you are technically called Ichigo: a Vizard, a soul reaper who can don a hollow mask, like you did when you faced Byakuya Kuchiki during Rukia's execution. Think of it as being the polar opposite of an arrancar. I suspect that your offspring will be in that category." Aizen moved to the door and gestured him to follow along. "Now come along Ichigo, we have much to discuss. If you wish, I can tell you things that your father has been hiding from you for years."
As Ichigo stepped quietly along his face showed much more confusion, "Wait, my dad? But he has nothing to do with the Soul Reapers and everything else that's happened to me." If he was being honest with himself he'd admit that there were times when he wondered about certain things about his father.
As they stepped through the doorway Aizen turned to his prisoner and smiled. "Yes Ichigo, I have much to tell you….
