You Bent My Triangle!
Chapter 10: My Mate!
"She's gonna be OK, right?" ask the hollow.
"I'm afraid not, That is if she continues being in contact with you she could die." There was no trace of a smile, "She could possibly become a hollow, but she certainly will not become an arrancar. Just an ordinary hollow." Urahara's face was blank.
"Please calm yourself, Jaegerjaquez. Please think of Karin."
"She's all I ever think about anymore!" He clenched his fists and drew nearer Karin. Grimmjow did not like what he was hearing.
"You are killing her!" Toshiro screamed.
"No," Grimmjow's face hardened. He plastered on his once characteristic evil toothy grin, but it never reached his eyes, "You god-damned lairs!" Grimm was growling loudly now. He Caressed Karin's Cheek. He slowly and carefully took her in his arms.
"Put her down, now!" Hitsugaya ordered in an even tone.
Grimmjow drew Panthera, "We will be leaving now."
Grimm could not think he was seeing red, his judgment was clouded by fear and anger. He saidoned away with no idea where he was going. It didn't matter as long as it was away from those damn lying bastards. He stopped when he felt Karin stir. Karin shifted her weight and buried her head in his chest, "We've got to get out of here. I'll take care of you." He caressed her cheek. He then picked up his speed again. He was nowhere near Karakura Town any more, but he had no clue where he was. All he knew was that short soul-reaper was on their heels. He wished he had his gigai so they could hide better.
"Grimm," Karin slurred his name badly, "Grimm, I'm gonna be sick, if you don't stop soon." Karin looked away from the arancar's shoulder long enough to see scenery whipping past faster than her mind could register. She closed her eyes and returned her head to his chest.
"I'm s-serous, If we don't stop soon I'm going to lose my lunch," Karin pleaded.
"Karin I-I can't stop. We're in trouble. They-they're trying to take you away from me," Karin heard fear, not just fear, blatant terror in the manic hollow's voice. He gripped her tighter, but not enough to hurt her.
Karin tried to relax sensing that they might not stop for quite a while, "How far can you go before you get to tired?"
"I don't know, I’ve never run away from anyone before, or anything. Usually I run headlong into trouble," He gave humorless chuckle.
Karin tightened the grip on his neck and whispered, "It's gonna be OK, our friends will help. We should not run from anything." Karin was trying to reassure him and hope that they were not caught by whoever was chasing them, "Who are we running from? That Ulquiorra guy?"
"No," Grimm did not elaborate, but he was starting to feel the toll of using his saidon to much. Karin felt him begin to weaken. Grimm knew it too.
"Please stop before you over do it," Karin hugged her kidnapper's neck. He finally stopped none too soon they had to be fifty or maybe even a hundred miles from her home. It had only taken them a matter of minutes. Grimmjow found a secluded spot in some nondescript forest. He rested his mate against a maple, he took a seat beside her. Karin still felt dizzy and drained, now Grimmjow felt a little drained as well. Karin leaned into her captor's shoulder. She could swear he was purring. Grimm put an arm around her and both sighed in relief. He worked on suppressing his power. It was really not hard considering he was already weak. Karin was however starting to feel better.
"Who are we running from," Karin asked innocently, she did not realize the she had been taken by force from her friends.
"The soul-reapers," Grimm said without qualms.
"What!" Karin was astonished, but didn’t look at the man next to her, "Why? Why would you do that? You've messed up your chance at freedom." Karin felt anguish at his (and her) loss.
"I had to, I just had to," He pulled her close closing the centimeter gap between them. Grimmjow nuzzled her cheek with his nose in a very cat-like gesture, "They were going to separate me from my mate." Grimmjow purred heavily and looked at Karin like she was the only thing that existed.
"Oh," Karin understood, but that didn't mean she'd approve, "Surely there is a better solution than running."
Grimm knew it would only be a matter of time before they were found. He frowned, but he had no other ideas then to fight. If he was going all out he'd have to stash Karin somewhere safe and far away, 'What if I am hurting her, if she becomes a hollow she won't be her anymore. I don't want to lose you, Karin. I've never felt this before.'
"I love you, Karin," Grimm looked into her eyes, "I don't know what else this feeling could be."
Karin stared into his eyes locked there. In her heart she felt an emptiness, but also a need. She needed him. She leaned toward him and kissed the corner of his mouth. She didn't understand the surge of anger and pain that went along with the passion she was feeling. Grimm turned his head and returned her kiss. Karin put her hands on his chest and crossed over him. She pushed him against the tree and continued to assault his mouth. Karin began running her hands down his chest until she came in contact with an unpleasant feeling mass. Grimm having forgotten about his new flesh winced at the touch. She broke the kiss, "Grimm! What happened?" They both look down at his torso. Where a circular hole had once been now was a red pulsating mass. It looked like a very serious, not to mention infected, wound. The hole was now smaller then Karin's fist.
Grimmjow was calmer now and seemed to be calculating something in his head. He looked like a man about to get a really bad headache, "Karin you are right we should not have run. You're dying, they said If you stay with me it'll kill you. I didn't understand before, but you are healing me, see." He poked his wound and seethed, "I'm stealing your humanity." Grimmjow frowned.
"We need to go back. Can you make it back there," Karin looked at him pleadingly. She felt fear and foreboding.
"The short one, Hitsugaya is on his way can't you feel him?" Karin concentrated, she felt him too.
"We'll just wait then," She hugged him and enjoyed his warmth, "You know for a dead guy you're pretty hot."
Grimm laughed. His eyes deepened in love and sorrow. He had to lose her to save her, he'd have to give up on his newly acquired humanity. His soul was rejoicing in her presence. His heart broke a million times over, but he had her for that moment in time and he was glad.
Their peace did not last long however, both the girl and the hollow felt the gargantua opening.
"Karin we need to leave now," Grimmjow grabbed his love's arm and stood up.
"I'm afraid that your time to flee is gone, trash," A flicker of movement and emerald eyes locked with azure. Ulquiorra had finally come to make an example of the renegade espada and his 'mate'.
Ulquiorra knew that Grimmjow was about to bring the wrath of the entire seireitei down up on their dwindling numbers. He decided to put a stop to it. Now he regretted he had not simply killed the trash before he made things so much worse. Any who dared venture into the living world were met with even more force. Not just in Karakura Town but everywhere. There were reports that security had been tripled. This might have been a good thing if they had in fact still been under Aizen's rule with the hougyoku. Surely their security in the seireitei must have holes in it left by the increase of patrols I the living world. If Aizen, the great self-deluded madman, had been around they would have lead an attack on the soul society while leaving the living world for later. But Aizen was dead, killed in the winter war. Those who have managed to escape have been in hiding. That blue freak had exposed them and he and his kind were going to pay for the selfish whims of a maniac. Ulquiorra's deep wells of rage never quite reached the surface to cause any ripples on his placid demeanor, but they ran deep and a current of hate was flowing out of his eyes. Even if they could not see it, Ulquiorra hated Jaegerjaquez.
Grimmjow was facing down the green eyed arrancar. Karin looked worriedly between them. She opened her mouth to say something, drawing unwanted attention from Ulquiorra. Green eyes flickered toward her; an arm was raised so quickly that even Grimmjow had trouble following the motion, much less stopping the impact. Karin was backhanded with such power that she crashed painfully into a tree almost twenty feet away from her. She gasped as the air left her forcefully. Then she slid down the tree leaving a trail of blood on its smooth bark.
"Just think if I'd used more than a tiny fraction of my power she's be broken in two," His voice was even and deadly. Grimm looked at Karin. His eyes screamed agony. He looked upon Ulquiorra with a hate that may have been beyond him before he discovered love. Anger never felt so overwhelming, even when the strawberry beat him, or when he had lost his arm. He'd trade both his arms if only it would save her. She lay there bleeding and helpless. The hate and anger were deepened by the loved one lying at the base of a blood stained tree. Her eyes were open and dazed. Then they fluttered stupidly. Her head sank and eyes were seen no more. Grimmjow lunged drawing his zanpaktou only to be pinned to a tree. Ulquiorra grasped his neck not even having drawn his sword.
You are weak; I feel your power waning the more time you spend with that trash. She's draining you. She's made you weak. A hint of a smirk played on the emotionless face of Ulquiorra. The shorter espada looked at Grimmjow's abdomen, "You call yourself an espada? You're nothing more than human trash." With his bare hand, Ulquiorra impaled the blue haired man in the throbbing wound that used to be his hollow hole. He twisted his hand into the tender new flesh. Blood gushed out. He removed his hand and wiped it off on his former allies' shirt. Then he turned back to the girl. He felt a flicker of consciousness left in her, "Perhaps I should devour her, she does smell enticing." Grimmjow still in shock as blood flowed freely from his wound he tried to move only to have horrible pain shoot through his entire being. He sank back against the tree.
Ulquiorra had already returned to the girl. He grabbed her arms and lifted her to her feet. The emotionless man sensed her aura, it was appealing, 'Strange but she draws me in. I can see what that trash may have been after.' Ulquiorra brought her close so he could smell her. She smelled of grass, dirt, blood, sweat, and arousing pheromones. He suppressed a shudder, desire wracked his soul more and more it was replacing the anger and hate. 'Need,' that word that kept popping up in his mind. 'I need. I need. I need. I NEED!' He stared at her for the better part of a minute. He hooked his arm under her armpit; and took his free hand and pressed it to the gushing wound at the back of her head. He tasted her blood. She was exquisite. Grimmjow watched in horror as Ulquiorra tasted her. He then turned the limp girl around and began lapping the blood from her open wound. He hadn't forgotten his enemy was behind him. He shot a cero into the tree above Grimmjow's head as a warning not to interfere. Ulquiorra was not sure where his desire was leading him but the blood was addicting. Her aura was like a drug. He was like an addict with the keys to every drugstore in town. His emotionless front was dropped for the savage nature it masked. His control slipped he threw her to the ground and straddled her back feasting on her blood, and protecting his prey.
"No, no, no, no, no...Not good, not at all good," Urahara frowned. Hanataro was staring at the sheets of paper. The lines were in sync, all except two, the heart rate and the breathing. Urahara was flipping through a dusty tome his frowned deepened, "Hanataro," The boy looked up. Urahara continued, "Miss Kurosaki is in deep shit…Up to her eyeballs." The man tapped his finger impatiently on a paragraph. The man read from the book.
"...A Virgin sacrifice to the gods, these maidens of exceptional beauty and power who were untouched by a man would be lead to their deaths to appease angry gods. These 'gods' were in fact very powerful hollows. These spirit children, konpaku-ko, were peace offerings to large hollows. Their reisetu is like a narcotic to hollows including vosto lordes and other powerful arrancars. Often one of these rare hollows, assuming that it were a male, would mate with the sacrificial maiden. She would bare an arrancar offspring. She would then be devoured by the arrancar, or herself become an arrancar." The sacrificed maidens remains, if there were any, were also used to produce hollow bait. If a woman was not chosen as an offering, she would be untouched by a man and live her life in a monastery. When she died her remains would also be used to produce powerful hollow bait similar to that which Quinceys use. There is no explanation why males were not offered up. It is believed that male siblings to the konpaku-ko were often heroes and warriors of great prowess..."
"I think I'm going vomit," Hanataro excused himself. Urahara felt his gorge rising also but managed to keep himself in order. He was not normally this squeamish but the thought of that girl being raped and then devoured just kept being forced to the front of his mind, "I always wondered why that girl always seemed to come across so many hollows. She is fortunate to not have run across anything she couldn't handle up until now."
"What do you mean?" Renji raised an eye brow, as a still green looking Hanataro reclaimed his seat at the table next to Renji.
"That girl has always been a hollow magnet. I always assumed it was just because she was strong and they wished to devour her, but no. No this is even to perverse for me to contemplate. The only thing to protect her right now may be that idiot Grimmjow."
"Please just tell me?"
"Miss Kurosaki's aura is like an aphrodisiac to hollows. Meaning, they are very, very, very sexually attracted to her." The three men shuddered at the thought. Karin was a tough girl, but they all realized she was still naďve, "The only thing, besides Ichigo, that has prevented our old pal Grimm, from forcing himself on her is the strange bond that they developed, the bond that is in fact killing her," apparently Urahara was wrong she may indeed become an arrancar. From what little Renji and Toshiro had told them she had already begun the process of transformation. Renji, you should go find them. Ikkaku and Yumichika are already headed the way Captain Hitsugaya went. Karin is a walking breathing piece of hollow bait. She is especially enticing because she has not been with a man."
"How the hell would you know?" Renji stood up from his sitting position.
"Hey! I didn't look up her skirt or anything, I read her diary,"
Renji scowled and moved as if to hit the man. "I'm kidding-I'm kidding," He said jokingly. Renji did not appreciate the sentiment, "I'd assume that she is by the way Grimmjow had been acting. He's gentle toward her, but guards her fiercely. I suspect that he'd kill to protect her. It is quite obvious he has claimed her as a mate. The 'informational guide to hollow sexual behavior,'" He patted the dusty book and small flakes of paper and dust flew. "Clearly states that a hollow will never take a mate who is impure. I highly doubt that they have consummated their relationship, yet, but we need to find them before that happens. You need to give the captain this information. Karin Kurosaki's very soul depends on it."
