didn't realize till midway i'd read this on lj... i adore how while things are happy & sensual she realizes all the differences between this adult love & passion versus the childhood love that was all fairytale-ish. its so sad toward the end when it turns dark & bitter--he seems to be punishing her, but he's so much more mature being many hundreds of years old, i figure as much as it stings him, he's gotta realize she's damaged goods & hasn't had time to really mend herself yet, that she'd be a jumble of defense mechanisms still. I didn't remember that at the very end, in the last line, they apologize to each other & he does comfort her, so its actually hopeful. in my imagination, they go on to acknowledge they are in love & find a way to make it work, like maybe urahara would be able to make it so she could stay in SS w/o aging as a human would so they could have that 'eternity' together. or shunsui would get a gigai that aged so he could have a mortal life w/her in real world, which in SS time is probably like an extended sabatical from work or long vacation.
