Another great chapter as always! I love this story and I'm so excited and I can't wait for the next one! You and Black Fox keep up the great work!!! Oh I wonder what Toshiro will think about Soi Fon coming in as a claim spot but we'll see what happens soon I'd imagine. I wonder of we'll get to see how our two trouble makers are doing after kidnapped by the swarm. Also what about Soi Fon's child and how is Ggio doing and Yumichika. (I've probably spelled all their names wrong I'm sorry) I can't wait for the next chapter and have a great holiday and great work as always. I'm disappointed to see The Real King end but it was bound to happen and I enjoyed the story as well. Consolation Prize was awesome too I told you this before but I want to make sure you all know that you and Black Fox write so well and I love all the stories you two write!!!

Statements like this one in your author's note are just one of the reasons I don't review after each and every chapter I read.

I definitely understand the desire to receive praise (in this case in the form of reviews) for one's hard work. I think it's only normal to want to be acknowledged for our hard work.

But at the same time your statement almost makes it sound as if the only reason you write is to see your 'review numbers' go up and get as many 'pats on the back' as possible. Is the only reason you write stories to receive praise from readers? You should write because you love to write no matter how many people are leaving reviews. And I really think that you DO love to write, because it shows through in your style.

So....I don't really know what else to say except it drives me nuts when authors toss threats of quitting a story or make obvious attempts at 'guilting' readers into leaving reviews. I normally DON'T leave reviews when authors make statements like that. But it's worked to your benefit this time, yeah? Hopefully you're a bit happier with the number of reviews after this most recent chapter.

PS: I did actually enjoy this chapter very much, but the vibe was spoiled for me after reading the A/N. I'll just skip those from here on out....assuming that you don't actually drop the story now.

I've enjoyed reading what you've written since I stumbled across your "Crossbreeding" series. I've followed this story since around when you started it, usually reading one chapter and then waiting for the next. I don't review often, but I've enjoyed the vast majority of what you've written here. (not into M/M) I hope you'll keep writing through to the finish of this story, and you might enjoy trying something in one of the different anime, might get you some new readers.

OMG I just adore this story soo much! I'm sorry that it doesn't get as much attention as some other stories but you are an excellent writer. The world you have created is awesome and I love where it is going. This has become one of my favorite AUs. Props to you. It is lovely! I would love to see Starrk falling in love and finding his mate

I would like to let you know that I refresh this page at least once a day even though I know there won't be an update because I want to know what happens next. This fic is one of my favorites because its so intricate and it's a topic most people haven't even THOUGHT of. I love the children, and the way you portray the changing dynamics, and all of the other nuances of the story.

    So please don't stop!!!!

I don't review much, mostly because I read on the go and I don't have much patience to type the sort of review this deserves on a phone.

Anyway, I have been with this story since the very first few chapters and I have always anticipated the next chapter. It's the first story I read and I often read a couple times when those spare moments come. I find the whole concept interesting and I enjoy very much how you dedicate chapters to a variety of characters to give them a viewpoint on how they are dealing with the situation, Aizen and their own complicated lives. I absolutely loathe Yammy (which means you're doing well!), adore the Starrk pack and Halibel has become one of my favorites to read. You've done very well with it (better than many I have seen) and it deserves much more attention than it receives.

I appreciate the work that you put into this and I'm sorry the lack of reviews discourages you. The details, the feelings, every little thing you put into it draw me in. The torture scenes with Gin, Aizen and Byakuya and Soi Fon and Ggio's plight with their unborn really drive the oppression home. The awful situation makes me feel for characters I thought little to nothing about in the series. I will definitely try harder to put in a review each chapter, if it will help motivate you to continue this lovely piece.

Thank you for writing this story and I hope that you will continue to throw us into emotional turmoil with your great story.

I am loathe to admit that while I am an avid reader, I rarely review. Some very wonderful stories only have a select following. If you want badly written, check out the Naruto stories. Now there's some stuff to make you ill. Then there's the reviews to those heinous acts. All gushing praise for something that came out of an 8 year-old's mouth after his first sex ed class to quote the Third Fang. Ones that drive me up the wall are the ones where everyone is gay. I have nothing against same-sex pairings, some of my friends are gay. One or two couples I can handle, but the whole universe? And the plot-holes, can't forget the holes big enough to drive a starship through. (SHUDDER)
Enough grousing. I've watched your style grow and expand as you've kept writing, you do wonderful work. While I dislike how The Real King ended, it was a good story throughout. My one gripe for Prize of Victory is that there is almost nothing about the Escapees. We see them in snatches and bits but I have yet to see a single solid chapter about them. I think the Escapees helping to rescue the kids is an interesting idea. Why is Aizen obsessed with Grantz is my big question. While his brutality is nothing short of inspired, why the fixation on someone who truly can't fight back? Aizen is one twisted blighter and he needs to be taken down. Karin and the others have their hands full on trying to kill him, can't wait to see what you do.

I would just like to say that I have been enjoying your story very much. I think it also makes much better sense than the canon. I know the Gotei 13 are the "heros" but it feels like Kube was too lazy to think it thru and just threw the espanda away.

    Oh don't you worry, I don't intend on starting a riot.......yet hehehehe.
    *preps Molotov Cocktail*

But you got to admit that Aizen is the kind of person who would totally do something like that. He would get off on it and could totally bullshit his way through explaining its necessity do to the battles with the Swarm. And the thing is......from a certain point of view he would be right. It's a harsh pragmatic approach but the loss of so much manpower isn't going to help anyone in the long run. In all honesty the only pregnancies I am rooting for are the ones with the mothers who actually want to keep the baby of their own free will or the ones who chose to approach their claim holder and actually endeavored to get pregnant and it wasn't just sprung on them. It would also go a long way to establishing him as the true villain of this fic. Let me explain, he has kind of been painted as he 'designated villain' despite his soldiers being no better and dabbling in the same activities as him. This would be the action that would set him apart from all that and give the rest of the Espada, the ones who follow their one little rule anyway, a real reason to betray him and make it so they and Karin's group stopped looking like hypocrites who adhere to a double standard in regards to him.

    Review time!!!

Ok I'll admit it, the scene with Hana and Starrk got me right in the gut. The one Arrancar I have truly come to care for and hope makes it through this alive crying over his little Hana was magnificent.Woe betide the fool who fucks with his little girl. And now he is going to try and look out for Harribel's kid in case aizen decides to nip it in the bud.

And the crowing moment for me at least of this chapter:

“I will take your cub as a fraccion, but in return I want you to Claim Soi Fon once the baby is born. You do right by your girls and your current pet, so I figure you’ll do right by her too.”

    .........yes

'I want you to Claim Soi Fon"

    ..YES

    "Claim Soi Fon'

    YES!!!!!!
    http://i.imgur.com/frnXxyM.gif

I can't say it enough but I adore Soi fon and love it whenever you include her even in small ways in a chapter. How far along is she again though? Hopefully nothing happens between now and the birth that puts a strain on Ggio's claim and breaks it prematurely.

Given Harribels character it is natural that under any other circumstances she would jump at the chance to aid another female and stick it to Barragan but it is also understandable that she would be concerned about how Toshiro would view the situation. I doubt he would have any problem with it seeing as how Soi is not only a former captain but still someone he considers a comrade. from what we have seen in canon and besides both being two of the youngest captains next to Byakuya, they both had an iron clad sense of duty and fought side by side. I wouldn't call them friends but they are each the others fellow soldier and having lived the past 15 years under hollow and Aizen rule would be able to understand each other.

He sure as shit would not want to see her get hurt any more than she already has been and isn't petty enough to get jealous at the prospect of having to "share" harribel if it means keepinmg her alive and if worse comes to worse and Harribel gets cold feet, one of her fraccion could claim her since they would be in similar or perhaps higher power than Ggio. And being Harribels fraccion and having similar mindsets would not harm Soi or lord themselves over her.

You have really given a new layer to Harribel. She understands that she is in a very vulnerable position and doesn't want to commit to anything that could endanger what she has obtained. It's not out of malice that she hesitates but survival instinct.

and dun dun dunnnnn.......Aizen finds out next week and the title "Epidemic's Darkness" sounds very foreboding.

And a Merry Christmas to you as well as Black Fox and I know that I have said it over and over again but I love this story, currently the best one in the bleach section on either site.

-waits patiently for the next chapter-

I don't have time to write a full review now, but HOLY FREJOLES!!!! What a twist to add to the now tumbling tangles of intrigue already on the table.

Merry Christmas, genius. I hope it's a good one. I know I'm not very good at writing reviews. I think I have done two out of the whole slew of chapters that have completely enthralled me, but maybe this little note will add more sprinkles of cheer. I am a part of Beach RP and when we were talking OOC and I had got to know the majority of the leaders, I introduced them to this fan fiction. Three of the four are hooked, just as I am. I have read many fan fictions, not as many in this fandom I admit, but a lot, and there is no doubt that this one is one of the best out there in ANY category. Keep it up.

I can't wait to see what they think about this latest twist, if they have caught up~

Are you trying to start a riot?! Because even suggesting what you did is potentially enough to incite some serious shit- both within the story and among the reviewers, and I personally don't want to see this website burned down...

Don't you give that woman ideas, she's evil enough without you helping her!

Great, now I'm gonna be looking over my shoulder- just in case someone throws a Molotov Cocktail!

@Chapter 41: Wow, a lot sure happened in this chapter. And I really loved how you juggled all the different plot threads, while still keeping the narrative crisp and engaging. So much to talk about... First, it was nice getting to see things from a different perspective, namely Unohana, since her duties at the 4th's HQ (and being Aizen's trophy/toy) have largely kept her out of the main plot. She's able to view thing more calmly and dispassionately than some of the other characters would, while still having considerable empathy for the suffering of others. She's also a realist, trapped in a horrible situation, so she focuses on doing what she knows she CAN do- being a physician and confidant.

Part of me is sad to think about what's happened to "little" Mareyo, but I'm also somewhat relieved to see she's alive and coping as well as someone can, given the circumstances. As a guy, I almost hate to think/say this... But given that so many of the women (and a few men) have effectively been reduced to being the property their captors, their fates would likely follow two paths: they either despair and give up all hope (which is tantamount to committing mental/emotional suicide in the long term) or they 'submit' and make the best of their situation. It's by no means ideal, and it's not my intention to seem dismissive or sexist towards what amounts to emotional/sexual exploitation... But people who survive terrible situations often do so by coping, and it's not surprising that someone like Rangiku (just for example) decided that if she had to be property, she'd rather be well-treated property.

The next point is the revelation about the "fertility shift" that's taking place: that female ova and male sperm are adapting, to survive and cross-fertilize with the power-level and genetics of their owner/partners. It's mind-blowing to think about, but biology is a powerful force unto itself. But this is clearly an "Oh Shit!" moment on many levels... I sympathize with Unohana's shock/uncertainty/bewilderment. Damn, that's gonna be a *lot* of babies!

And speaking of babies... OMG, I was sooo excited when I realized that Tia is pregnant with Toshiro's kid! Aside from the genuine miracle that's enabled her to carry a child (given the further revelation of her "womb"), there's the fact the child is the offspring of two of the most powerful and intelligent beings of any of the realms! That kid is going to have one hell of a pedigree, since it's the child of the Tercera Espada and the "Ice Dragon". I can't wait to see how Toshiro reacts to this- though his recent "interest" in Tia leaves me to think he won't be too shocked. I really liked the portrayal of Halibell in this chapter, and I found her lapses of embarrassment and cluelessness very endearing.

I hope Nanao won't stay too upset, especially since Hana will be okay. Though, I can't imagine that her two "uncles" (or Lilinette) will feel much better, given how close-knit everyone is at the Ukitake Estate.

As for Kubo complicating things with his own bad continuity... It's hardly surprising. In an omake, Renji imagines what Zabimaru would look like if it were turned into a female, yet is totally surprised when he meets her, even though she's 90% the way he envisioned her. A more blatant example, and one that is clearly solely his fault, is Unohana's scar. Her neck is clearly visible- with NO scar- during the beach trip, in BOTH the manga and the anime.

I can't wait for the next chapter! I hope you have a great holiday!
